Re: [Samba] Samba/Windows "you do not have permission to access this"

2012-08-01 Thread Craig Cameron
Yes it's down as writeable = yes in smb.conf

If I change the file's ownership to myself it works - or if I then restart
winbind and samba it then becomes accessible too.

There's only an issue if the file owner is different from the person accessing
it.

Regards

Craig

Did you configure the share as writeable=yes?

Betreff: [Samba] Samba/Windows "you do not have permission to access this"

I'm constantly running into the above error message when accessing files on a
samba share under Win7.

Files are fully accessible under Linux ie the group permissions are being
honoured but Windows just locks me out if I'm not the owner.

file: testfile
owner: anotheruser
group: mygroup
user::rwx
group::rwx
other::---
default:user::rwx
default:group::rwx
default:other::---

Has anyone else experienced this? And if so can anyone suggest a fix?

Thanks

Craig

[Samba] Group permissions issues with winbind on

2012-07-23 Thread Craig Cameron
Simple group permissions don't seem to work when winbind is running and
smb.conf has "nt acl support = yes"

If you have a directory that is writeable by a group you are a member of - but
you are not the file owner - you cannot delete any files underneath the
directory (even if you do own them). However you can edit and save the files -
just not delete them.

This also applies when using an extended ACL for the group, viz:

mkdir test
setfacl -m o::0,d:o::0,g::rwx,d:g::rwx test
chown user2:mygroup test

running getfacl test shows -

file: test
owner: user2
group: mygroup
user::rwx
group::rwx
other::---
default:user::rwx
default:group::rwx
default:other::---

However this results in Windows 7 returning the error "You do not have
permission to access this" even though I am also a member of mygroup.

Stopping winbind or changing smb.conf to "nt acl support = off" makes it work
correctly.

Access under Linux works as expected.

Can anyone shed light on this or point me to a fix?

Cheers

[Samba] Upgrading Kerberos 5 to version 1.3.x for smb 3.0.6

2004-09-02 Thread Craig Cameron
Hi all,

Situation : New server RH9, Samba 3.0.6, Kerberos5 1.2.7 in active directory domain
was working in 2000 but now (win2k3).

Problem is I need to either update kerberos to 1.3.x to get this working or install
Fedora 2.

Unfortunately I have a controller card which isn't currently supported in fedora.

Other option is updating Kerberos in RH9 and all the problems this brings.

Anyone know of a 'HOW to' or have done this and can give tips as installing krb5 1.3.x
means breaking some deps.

Alternative suggestions or any help much appreciated.

Cheers

Craig
