2006-04-08 Thread Hakan BAYINDIR

Thanks in advance,

2006-03-21 Thread Hakan BAYINDIR
I haven't tried that but, samba is correctly logging into the ldap via
rootdn and executing queries. Also I can use it via phpldap admin. samba
uses ldap to auth share accesses and works flawlessly. Also as a note,
slaptest and paramtest (or parmtest I do not remember) returning success
all the time.

Also in the logs of slapd, I see no errors. All queries and log attempts
are returning with err=0.

[Samba] Username could not be found

2006-03-20 Thread Hakan BAYINDIR
Hello,

I've asked this question before, and somebody helped me after
sending my logs. I thank them very much. I've solved these problems but
I still can't join the domain. I cannot see any major problem in the
logs except the logging user cannot be found in the ldap DB but it's there.

To summarize the problem to first tmie readers; We have a windows
PDC in our organization. We want to migrate this pdc to linux / samba.
I've set up one, on a openSuSE 10.0.
Windows machine request a log-in when trying to join domain as expected.
after supplying user "root" and it's password, it tries to connect and
says "username could not be found" wrong basswords return with "Bad user
name or passwrd" error and also the shares are working as expected.

I'm attaching the samba logs (level 10), system messages (the slapd
messages), my latest smb conf in a tar.gz to not to bug the reader's
eye. Thank you for reading and trying to help.
I'm woring on this for a long time and I don't have too much time. Help
will be very appreciated.

ThX in advance.

@James Taylor,
Yes I'm using idealX scripts which includes smbldap-useradd. I'll take
your advice and look to script for it, if it's not doing that (I'm using
ver 0.9.1 which is latest) I'll try to add this functionality and reply
back it to here a.s.a.p, thX.

@Schoenfeld
I use root as username to register to domain. Unfortunately I can send a
slapcat on friday since I don't go to the office everyday. I'll post it.
thX.

I'm using the root account, the "root". I think the accounts are enabled
and I used smbpasswd to set the paswd. I also want to mention that I'm
using idealx scripts to maintain smb and ldap at the same time.

[Samba] Unable to join to domain: The username could not be found.

2006-03-06 Thread Hakan BAYINDIR
Hi,

This is my first post here, so if I make any mistakes, warnings are
always welcome. I'm working in an organization and we are migrating are
domain controllers from windows to linux. I'm trying to deploy a working
configuration of samba. Using openSuSE 10.0. I was following the Keith
Robertson's how-to from IBM-Developerworks but in the end; the finished
installation fails to work as expected.

I can see the shares, log in with correct id's which are saved in
ldap, transfer files, share the same workgroup with supplying correct
username and password which is saved in ldap again. But when I try to
join the domain, windows system wants username and password. It refuses
it if I give wrong creds and if I give the true ones, refuses again with
"the user name could not be found"

I've tried signorseal patch, configured local policy but no hopes.
Also samba config test and slaptest returns OK. Any help will be highly
appreciated. Thanks in advance.
