[Samba] Problem with WinXP (one more !)

2003-03-04 Thread Laurent Hofmann
Hello,

I had my network working perfectly for months with SAMBA PDC alpha20.
I reinstalled FreeBSD 5.0-RELEASE two days ago, and also reinstalled SAMBA
alpha20,

I copied smbpasswd, secrets.tdb and all others files (*.tdb in /var/lock for
exemple).

The domain were up for all my machines, exept for one : the XP machine.
If I start my XP machine, with the domain configured and samba UP, all the
XP deamons lauched after
"SERVER" (the daemon for the network shares and for joining the domain in
winXP) crach !!!

If I unjoin the domain, XP work fine, if I unplug the network cable during
the boot of XP, XP work fine and I can
log on to the domain !!!

If anyone knew what it happens, I would be very happy !
Sincerely,
Laurent

(France)

[Samba] lib_iconv ???

2002-12-24 Thread Laurent Hofmann
I've this when I launch smbstatus and in log files...

Conversion from UCS-2LE to CP850 not supported
Conversion from UTF8 to CP850 not supported
Conversion from ASCII to CP850 not supported
Conversion from CP850 to UCS-2LE not supported
Conversion from CP850 to UTF8 not supported
Conversion from CP850 to ASCII not supported
Conversion from CP850 to UTF8 not supported
Conversion from UTF8 to CP850 not supported

I've also that in logs :
[2002/12/24 11:41:00, 0] lib/charcnv.c:convert_string(147)
  convert_string: Required 46, available 32
[2002/12/24 11:41:00, 0] lib/charcnv.c:convert_string(147)
  convert_string: Required 46, available 32

I don't know if it's linked...
I've lib_iconv installed :
libiconv-1.7_5 A character set conversion library

and I presume Samba use it since it appears sometimes in logs...

How can I fix this ???

[Samba] Re: How to enforce client to download the profile form server

2002-12-20 Thread Laurent Hofmann
hello,
as a clue you should take a look at ntuser.ini in the profile location of an
user :

[General]
ExclusionList=Local Settings;Temporary Internet Files;Historique;Temp;Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook;

This is the list of folders of the profile that do not synchronize...
I think this can help ;)
Please send me your feedback :)

[Samba] Re: Samba 3alpha20 Bugs (FreeBSD 4.6)

2002-12-20 Thread Laurent Hofmann
Yes but you should try to add a machine now, it worked for me with the
machines added before migrating to alpha20, but any new machine added after
can't log on...
It seems that developpers said that we should now put spnego=yes...

My goal is providing an easy access to the admin of a domain to little
enterprises I can't teach to them how to do it under Linux or
FreeBSD...

[Samba] Samba 3alpha20 Bugs (FreeBSD 4.6)

2002-12-19 Thread Laurent Hofmann
hello,

I would say that for Samba 3.0 alpha20 (and latter I suppose ) acting as PDC
you must reenable "use spnego=yes".
I say it because it is not clear, and I had to search a lot before finding
why i could not log on.
(it work with spnego=no with alpha17 !)

I've tried to set up add and delete scripts for everythings : add user
script, delete user script etc... add/del user and group work fine but
"add/del user to/from group" and "set primary group" seem not to do
anything. (by placing /bin/echo %g %u>/test it do nothing too while it work
with add user).

I've found also an error with UserMng for NT when group names (created by
smbgroupedit) are too long. If I rename it to a less caracters name, I can
double-click on a group name and view who is in the group.

With usermng for NT, we can delete a global group or a local group (without
entry in smbgroupedit) without problem, but if this group appears in
smbgroupedit and is local, it's impossible. (say "unable to delete this
system group").

I hope this can help ? I don't no if it is the right place for that... But
i'm not sure all are bugs, it could be problems in my config, so I post
here.

Laurent
