[Samba] samba pdc and nt server member

2003-07-21 Thread Luca Massarenti
I installed samba 2.2.8a as pdc on my red hat 8 linux box and I installed a 2000
server as a member of the samba domain.

My 2000 server act as file server and uses samba users but cannot see samba group.

How can I pass samba custom groups to miscosoft windows 2000 server?

Thanks

2003-03-03 Thread Luca Massarenti
Hi,

we have a mandrake 8.2, and samba 2.2.3a installed on intel p4 based computer with
256Mb ram and 2 ide hd 40Gb (raid software)

It works as file/print server and as a domain controller for a lan of about 80 clients.

Every week the server stops working and we have to switch off the server pushing the
power button

Thanks

Re: [Samba] please help me

What kind of resolution method do you use ?

If not implemented try Bind (DNS)

using dns proxy = yes in smb.conf
and
search mydomain.com
domain mydomain.com
nameserver x.y.w.z the ip address of the dns server

in /etc/resolv.conf

remember to open port 53 for domain in the firewall.

Re: [Samba] \\FILESERVER is not accessible. Access is Denied

2002-12-13 Thread Luca Massarenti

I think you have already test via ping the ip
address.

if the net works try to comment the following in
smb.conf (only if for security reason is possible)

; host allow =

if you have problems let me have more information
about the client os and if you want send your smb.conf to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

good luck

Subject: [Samba] \\FILESERVER is not accessible. Access is
  Denied

I got it so my logfile no longer complains about
invalid user. I was creating a machine trust account but not an actual user
account. I am still having 2 problems.

When i attempt to log onto the domain at bootup I
put in my username and password and select DARCSTAR for the domain to log onto
and it tells me almost instantly:

  "The Domain DARCSTAR is not
  available."

So i just log in on the local machine and type
\\FILESERVER in a command prompt. a username/password box appears, i put in my
username and password and it tells me:

\\FILESERVER is no accessible. Access is
  Denied

in the log file it doesnt give me an error it
  just says:

Allowed connection from 192.168.1.100 (which is
  my win2k box).

I'm sorta stumped as to what is the problem. I
read through the pdf file that someone gave me yesterday but it didn't explain
about the error message I am
receiving.
