[Samba] Deleting hosts

2003-01-10 Thread Mike Black
How does one delete machines from the WINS list when samba is the WINS server?
They seem to hang around forever.
Even temporary machines that plug into our network leave their own domain names and
host names hanging around.

[Samba] Daylight savings

2002-10-28 Thread Mike Black

I'm running 2.2.6
When daylight savings time changed this weekend I
had to reset all samba sessions as the sessions didn't pick up the time
change.
Copying file from a Windows client to the server
made the filetime off by one hour.
Killing all the same sessions (also restarted smbd
-- not sure if that was needed) fixed the problem.

[Samba] Printing problems

2002-06-07 Thread Mike Black

This showed up on a Windows XP machine with 2.2.4 -- I'm reverting back to a 2.2.4-pre
version that was running fine (at least I
never saw this problem before I upgraded the other day).

[Samba] WINS Retention

2002-06-06 Thread Mike Black

How does one get rid of machines from the WINS database?

They seem to hang around foreverand a restart doesn't solve it because the WINS
data just gets passed around...

[Samba] Adding workstation to PDC

2002-04-30 Thread Mike Black

Using current CVS version as of 4/29/02

Trying to add a 2000Pro workstation to the PDC.
Want to use a non-root account (or at least a different smb password so I
can have others with ability to add workstations to domain)

#1 - Created a new "domain" account seperate from root
#2 - Made "smbpasswd" of "domain" account different from /etc/passwd
#3 - Try to join domain -- get this:
[2002/04/29 09:29:18, 0] rpc_server/srv_samr.c:api_samr_set_userinfo(670)
  api_samr_set_userinfo: Unable to unmarshall SAMR_Q_SET_USERINFO.
[2002/04/29 09:29:18, 0] libsmb/smbencrypt.c:decode_pw_buffer(263)
  decode_pw_buffer: incorrect password length (-272661585).
#4 - Change "smbpasswd" of "domain" account to match /etc/passwd -- and it
joins OK

I assume something is broken here?
