[Samba] Error trying to create LOCAL groups Users

2009-03-10 Thread Mike Hurst
We are running Samba 3.033 / Winbind on RHEL5 x64 that authenticates to our AD
domain. We need to create a few LOCAL service accounts and groups (for Oracle)
however when we try to add the user group accounts, we get the error:
groupadd: group dba exists. This is because we have a domain account with the
same name, but we do not want to use the domain group, we want a new local only
group.

Is there a way we can add the local user group accounts without it looking
the account up in AD first?

Thanks!

[Samba] Log Rotation Kills Samba/Winbind?

2009-03-09 Thread Mike Hurst
It seems as though every weekend, when the log rotations start, our
Samba/Winbind services fail and need to be restarted. Is this normal?? (We're
using Winbind for AD integration)... Here is a copy from the messages file.

[Samba] Winbind Issue?

2009-02-25 Thread Mike Hurst
Hello, we are having this issue on two of our RHEL 5.2 servers. We have them
set up to authenticate to our Windows 2003 domain. Everything works well for a
while, but for some reason every few days the winbind service will stop
working, this is what we see in the log file:

We're running:

Our current workaround is to just restart the winbind service...

Any ideas?
