192.168.1.225 is a broadcast address?

Joel Hammer wrote:

You are using the ip that is used for broadcasts as the ip number of
your server. That doesn't sound good.

I sure *hope* so!

Perhaps if folks who inflicted such things on the list were just
suspended until they requested reinstatement, folks might get a hint!

Is there anything in the mail header that might identify automatic
replies as such, and could be used to filter them?

Not that I'm perfect. my posts occasionally get bounced for being in
HTML format.

Is it possible to suspend this user from getting mail for a week otherwise we are going to get loads of out of office reports???

[Fwd: Re: [Samba] Exporting a samba mount]]

2003-01-16 Thread Paul Yeager

Christopher and the list:

Gee... I wish it would!

My probelm currently is the fact that if I add this line to /etc/exports:

/mnt/MountedSambaSharesomebox(nohide)

I get:

somebox:/mnt/MountesSambaShare: Invalid argument

This happens whether /etc/exports says somebox(nohide) or
somebox(ro) or somebox().

Note that /mnt/MounteSambaShare is in fact properly mounted via smbmount
(actually a fstab entry specifying smbfs) ... no problems accessing it
on the machine from which I'm trying to export it via NFS.

If anyone has any clues, I'd be grateful!

Paul

Likely. Hey poking around today, I did a 'man 5 /etc/exports'. Do this yourself and look at the nohide param. Can that help you?

Yes... lsmod shows the smbfs module running. Kinda has to be
for me to mount the share on the local machine, right?

[Samba] Exporting samba mount via NFS

2003-01-13 Thread Paul Yeager
Perhaps I'm trying to do something that is not allowed, but I have found
no such restriction in the documentation.

To limit the contact of my Linux boxes with the products of Bill
Co., I have mounted a Windows share on my Linux server. When I try to
export that same share from the Linux server (as a plain old NFS
volume), it mounts without error, but the mountpoint appears empty. The
configuration looks something like:

Directory on Mountpoint on - Mountpoint on
Windows Server Linux Server Linux Client
  (works fine) (appears empty)

Am I attempting the impossible, or have I neglected some necessary detail?

Thanks in advance!

Paul

[Samba] Exporting a samba mount]

2003-01-13 Thread Paul Yeager
Anyone have experience with exporting to other Linux boxes a Windows
share mounted on one Linux box?

I have successfully mounted the Windows share on the Linux server box,
but when I edit /etc/exports to include the new mount and run exportfs,
I get error messages regarding the new export. For example, if I add
this line to /etc/exports:

/mnt/windows_sharesomebox(rw)

I will get the following error when running exportfs:

somebox:/mnt/windows_share: Invalid argument

I do have other NFS exports from native local filesystems working just fine!

Thanks in advance!

Paul
