[Samba] Users cannot loggon domain
dear friends, I am faced with the following problem: I have a Domain created in Samba 3.0.28a (Ubuntu Server 8.04) where there are 4 PCs. 2 of them are operating absolutely fine. the other 2 however when they loggon the server with their username/passwd credentials are prompted with a message from Windows telling them that there is an error in their password, domain etc. i then alter their passwd with smbpasswd username and retype their existing password. At this stage the users can loggon successfully. If they switch the machines off and on and try to loggon, I have to redo the same process with smbpasswd in order for them to loggon. the workstations are WinXP SP2 and have the requiresignorseal changed as per the instructions of Samba website. This is very odd as 2 out of 4 machines never have this issue and the process to join these machines to the network is identical for all of them. Any good ideas? Password system is smbpasswd. [Samba] WinXP user password not accepted - very strange !!!
Dear friends, I have an Ubuntu 8.04 server fully updated running Samba 3.0.28a. Currently the ubuntu machine acts as a PDC and all clients have joined the domain successfully (clients are all WinXP SP2). The strange thing is only with one user where: If the user logs in with his password all works well. If he restarts or shutdown his machine and tries to relogin the system tells him that his username/password is not correct. If I reset his password @ Ubuntu with smbpasswd username and renter the exactly same password, the user logs in successfully! This is the oddest thing. It appears as if this user's password is canceled every time despite the fact that the user has never changed his password during this period of time. Does anyone have any ideas? All WinXP SP2 clients have requiresignorseal = 0 and they have all joined the network in the exactly same way. All machines have machine-trust-accounts which have been created in the exactly same way. All users are working perfectly and all processes are running smoothly with not a single problem except the before mentioned. Your help is greatly appreciated. [Samba] WinXP altering user...
I have a set of PCs running WinXP and an Ubuntu Machine running Samba 3.0.28a. I am trying to achieve that each user that sits @ a PC be able to loging with their credentials and have their homes directory without login-logoff of each user at the station via the WinXP loging-logout screen. Any ideas?? C. -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: https://lists.samba.org/mailman/options/samba
