[Samba] schannel issue on samba 3.0.3

2004-05-10 Thread Ralf Tomczak
Hi there,

I've seen a strange thing not reported yet AFAIK.
We have W2K DCs with SP3 with Samba 3.0.2a everything works fine in regard
to winbind, but with Samba 3.0.3 winbind produces schannel len 24 errors and
'wbinfo -t' and 'id DOMAIN\userid' doesn't work. Note that wbinfo -u|g works
well and a join was successful as well. I tried to tune my krb5.conf but in
the end I disabled 'client schannel' in smb.conf. Does anyone know what is
going wrong exactly? Is there a reasonable security risk?

Best regards,
Ralf

RE: [samba] smbfs wrong file size

2004-04-19 Thread Ralf Tomczak
Hi,

I've seen the same with SUN PC Netlink 2.0 (Solaris 9) as SMB Server. I'm
able to mount a smbfs share on Linux, but the filesize is weird and it is
impossible to copy or to open. With Windoze everything works fine.

 Hi team,

i've got a behaviour that i can't explain at all
i'm running a Linux, debian unstable, samba packages version
 is 3.0.2a, kernel versions are 2.4.22 / 2.6.1 and 2.6.4. FS
is XFS. when i mount a share on an HP-UX/ASU server, i can
see files with their real size, but when i try to copy them
on my HD it appears to be 4GB ! When i try to open a file
directly from remote, it's just impossible. I've already
mounted this share successfully, it just happens suddenly...

has anyone an idea about this problem ?

 many thanks

Hi,

Problem solved by myself. Shame on me ... the reason is simple as annoying,
due to some changes in latin9 to provide the euro sign changed the position
of the '' and was replaced by ''.

best regards,
Ralf

[Samba] Problems with charsets and i18n

2004-03-30 Thread Ralf Tomczak
Hello list,

probably a known issue (but I haven't found a link yet):

I'm using 3.0.2a with 'unix charset = ISO8859-15' and get the following then a file
with ticks is created:
- desired: `'
- displayed: `'
  ^^^
The euro sign is created correctly in a file name. The filename will be displayed in
the filesystem correctly.

Then I switch to LATIN1 the ticks are OK (correctly displayed from windows client and
in the Unix filessystem as well).

I'm using Suse SLES8 but I've seen the issue with debian as well with locales set to
de_DE.ISO8859-15 (or [EMAIL PROTECTED] on SLES8).

Surplus: The locales seem to be OK and it's possible to create files with ticks and
euro sign on the console.

Any Ideas?
Ralf Tomczak

RE: [Samba] Problems with charsets and i18n

2004-03-30 Thread Ralf Tomczak
I tried this, but AFAIK only unix charset is responsible for filessystem to smb
mappings. Unfortunally the error still exists (did you tried explicitly to create
filenames with three types of ticks?).

Anyway, thank you.

 Use:

 dos charset = ISO8859-15
 unix charset = ISO8859-15
 display charset = ISO8859-15

 It works fine for me...

RE: [Samba] Problems with charsets and i18n

2004-03-30 Thread Ralf Tomczak
Thanks for your help. UTF-8 isn't really a solution because some of my
systems are not unicode aware and the file names are simply unreadable that
way. But does anyone know how relies 'unix charset' to the locales of the
system?

Good news for you: utf8 works fine. Sadly I need LATIN9 ... :(

Ralf

[Samba] Samba3.0.2a, MS Office (Excel), Save problem.

2004-03-02 Thread Ralf Tomczak
Dear Nick,

I had the same problem and it works for me with 'security = 770' setting in
the share (using 3.0.2a as well). So ACLs usable, as far as I can understand
'force * mode' doesn't work (w/ ACL?).

Hope it helps,
Ralf
