Re: [Samba] NetBIOS
How are you conducting your authentication? I found that I couldn't "net use" from my Windows 98 machines but I could access the shares through network neighborhood. Also, check your share and global configuration to make sure they are not read only. [Samba] Mounting shares using fstab at bootup
Hi all, I have changed my workstation fstab file to include 3 shares on the server that I want to mount during boot up. But, I had to include my username and password inside the fstab file. Does anybody have any other ways of doing this considering that the fstab file is readable by anybody? I'm not quite sure if setting the fstab to root readable only is a good idea. Does anybody have any ideas on that as well? Thanks Tom Ansley -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: http://lists.samba.org/mailman/listinfo/samba
[Samba] Power outage and now cannot connect
Hi all, We've just had a power outage and the pc's can now no longer connect to the server. The server had power backup and did not go down which seems strange. Now when I try to connect the error message in smbd.log is smbd/connection.c:yield_connection(62) yield_connection: tdb_delete failed with error Record does not exist. and on the workstation it denies access citing security problems If anybody has any ideas as to the problem that would be fantastic. [Samba] Mounting NT shares
Hi all, I am trying to connect to an NT share. Everything works perfectly on my workstation but I get the following error on my server: bind succeeded on port 0 wins_srv_died(): WINS server 130.253.166.42 appears to be down. 14576: Connection to Fac-Staff failed I think it has something to do with my firewall but have tried everything and it still doesn't seem to work. Here is the line I enter smbmount //Fac-Staff/tansley$ /home/tomansley/law_share/ -o username=LAW\\tansley,password=realpassword Any ideas?
