[Samba] Please help ! can't get it to work properly !!!
Hi all ! I don't know what else to do but I absolutely can't get it to work !!! :( I've installed 2.2.8a on my SGI 6.5.17 workstation and all the tests I've done failed. I'm getting quite desperate. :( Ok. Point by point I'll try to explain what I did. - Installed the 2.2.8a successfully and started it successfully. - Logged in the samba (almost) successfully from the PC (win2000). - Entered the share successfully (I can see all the files in it) - Tried to create a new folder (the Italian win2k version calls it "Nuova cartella") unsuccessfully. I get the message "Impossible to create the folder "Nuova cartella"" "Impossible to find the specified file". - I then tried to create a new text document successfully (the Italian win2k vesion calls it "Nuovo Documento di testo"). - I tried to edit the newly created text file by double clicking on the text document icon, unsuccessfully. I get the message "\\C061\test\Nuovo Documento di testo.txt" "Directory name not valid". Please note that at this point I cannot get rid of the file I've created nor any other file I try to cancel even thought all those files belong to me ! :( This is the listing of the "test" directory on the "C061" server: ls -la total 119524 drwxr-xr-x2 catadm catia 145 May 22 15:32 . drwxr-xr-x 59 catadm catia 4096 May 22 15:53 .. -rwxr--r--1 root catia0 May 22 15:32 Nuovo Documento di testo.txt -rw-r--r--1 catadm catia 4025 Apr 7 16:18 samba -rw-r--r--1 catadm catia 348366 Apr 7 16:18 samba.idb -rw-r--r--1 catadm catia 1638031 Apr 7 16:18 samba.man -rw-r--r--1 catadm catia 8926817 Apr 7 16:18 samba.src -rw-r--r--1 catadm catia 19671844 Apr 7 16:18 samba.sw -rw-r--r--1 catadm catia 30597120 May 22 13:38 samba65.2.2.8a.tardist I include to this message the log.nmbd, log.smbd, log.w2k-sistemi1 plus the smb.conf files. [Samba] Re: SAMBA and native mode
Hi there ! Yes I have. Samba works just as fine in native mode than it does in mixed mode. Have you got samba installed on an SGI server ? If so, have you noticed some _strange_ behaviours ? Let me know. Valter Hswe, Barbara wrote: Hello: A few months ago you posted the following messages on the samba message board: ""Hi all ! Apparently (M$ sources say), doing so it will not allow samba to work with Win2000 because samba advertises itself as beeing a NT4 xDC. Even though my Samba installation is NOT in any way a DC, could that compromize samba to work correctly ? [Samba] Win98 and 1026 error.
Dear All, I've got a problem with WIN98 and SAMBA 2.2.2 on IRIX 6.5.16. What appens is that connecting to a share I cannot see any file in the share. Also, sometimes the share has files in it (!!!) but when I try to copy one of them to the local disk, I get a 1026 error. And again if I try to create a new file into a share, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't and I get the 1026 error. I had a look at all the mailing lists archives, all the FAQs and I found that all could be related to my localized (italian) version of Windows. The solution in this case should have been to change some params in win registry, add a "character set ISO-8859-1" to my smb.conf and all should have worked all right. Well, it doesn't at all. Changeing all that above infact did not change anything at all What can I do ? Please help !!! [Samba] Samba & Win98 shares trouble.
Hi all. I'm having troubles with samba 2.2.2 running on IRIX 6.5.16 and some Windows98 PCs. Using the same user account on PC, logging on a Win2000 PC I can see and use my share without any problem. When I try doing the same thing but using a Win98 PC I can log in fine, see my share but I cannot see nor do anything inside my share ! Does anyone know if there is a solution to this problem ? [Samba] directories creation troubles
Wellseeing that no one has answered my question, I'm posting it again (maybe the message just passed unnoticed ;-) ). I've just finished setting up a samba 2.2.6pre2 installation on a SGI running IRIX 6.5.16. I've discovered that logging on a win2000 client, if I create a new file on a test share everything works but when I try to create a new directory I get the following error on win: Impossible to create the folder "New Folder" Impossible to find the specified file. Increasing the log level and doing the same operation I get the following error [2002/10/08 14:40:18, 5] smbd/filename.c:(119) unix_convert called on file "\Nuova cartella" [2002/10/08 14:40:18, 3] lib/util.c:(387) unix_clean_name [/Nuova cartella] [2002/10/08 14:40:18, 5] smbd/mangle_hash.c:(368) Checking Nuova cartella for 8.3 [2002/10/08 14:40:18, 5] smbd/filename.c:(193) unix_convert begin: name = Nuova cartella, dirpath = , start = Nuova cartella [2002/10/08 14:40:18, 5] smbd/filename.c:(314) New file Nuova cartella [2002/10/08 14:40:18, 3] lib/util.c:(387) unix_clean_name [Nuova cartella] [2002/10/08 14:40:18, 3] smbd/reply.c:(1209) stat of Nuova cartella failed (No such file or directory) [2002/10/08 14:40:18, 3] smbd/error.c:(91) error string = No such file or directory [2002/10/08 14:40:18, 3] smbd/error.c:(106) error packet at smbd/reply.c(1217) cmd=8 (SMBgetatr) NT_STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND [2002/10/08 14:40:18, 5] lib/util.c:(268) Any ideas ?
