[Samba] Linux and samba server + Mac OS Clients on LAN
Hi, On my network, I have 30 PCs with Win98/XP/2000. I have a debian linux server with samba 3.0 which act as PDC and it works pretty good. No problem until the management decided to buy some 15 Mac OS computer for graphics purposes. Here, where my problem begins. I need to integrate these 15 MAC pcs in my network where there will be file sharing and user logging. How can I proceed?? I found something at http://netatalk.sourceforge.net . Could someone please help me to sort this problem out Thanks S. -- Shafeek Sumser ___ Do you Yahoo!? RE: [Samba] Linux and samba server + Mac OS Clients on LAN
Thanks. The Mac OS version that we are buying is 8.x and 9.x. For these version, i am not so sure that smb/cifs NFS are supported. Hi, i think newer versions of mac os support smb/cifs and nfs. Appletalk is depreciated, i think. It shouldn't be used for new installations from my point of view. Can we solve it through Locking and how You might want to ensure you have oplocks turned off for your foxpro files. Best option to use is 'veto oplocks' on the foxpro file extensions. But how can i do that. I need to modify /etc/samba/smb.conf and in the global section, i need to add veto oplocks files = *.dbf, *.cdx, *.sel ??? Thanks A+ S. __ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! [Samba] help - Mapping shares asks for passwords...
Hi everybody I have a samba-LDAP server that authenticate all users in my network. It works fine. Thers is no share on this server. here i have samba 2.2.8a I have another samba server that do fileserver only (shares). here, samba 2.2.3a. On my samba-LDAP server i created a machine account for the fileserver. On the file server, i activated the following: domain = MYWORKGROUP netbios name = MYHOSTNAME security = domain password server = IP_OF_PDC encrypt password = yes then i did, smbpasswd -j MYWORKGROUP -r NETBIOSNAME_OF_PDC -U root%password and it joined domain successfully. When all the users get authenticate to the samba-ldap server, a logon script is executed that maps all the shares found in the fileserver to some network drives. My problem is that if my user get authenficate by the ldap server correctly, the filesever asks for password for that user which is very strange because the file server is a member of the domain. Could someone in the big world please help me ... A+ SS __ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Hi, since last week i am struggling with profiles of W2k XP profiles. Here is my architecture. clients XP, Wk2 -- Server Authentification (samba+Ldap) If authetification is good, then a drive is mapped to another Samba server acting as a fileserver only. I want that when i get connected from my W2k XP clients, all their profiles(Desktop, menus, icon etc...) need to be stored in the fileserver and not in the Authentification server. I have create a share for the profile on the filserver having the permissions 0777 and chown root.root When i connect from the W2k XP clients, i am able to authentificate myself but i cannot write the profile to the share of the fileserver. Your helps will be much appriciated. Thanks __ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
