Re: [Samba] Browsing Problem

2010-04-15 Thread Gurmai Zsolt

Hi!

You could raise the oslevel to 255 for a try. If I am right, in the
nmbd log you should see some lines regarding the loss of the local
master role. Something like other machine believes it is master
browser, but i am that, i can't recall it exactly.

My samba has Wins support and my dhcp give him to workstations.

Here is some command line that i have done to debug :
 nmblookup MYDOMAIN
 net lookup HOST
net lookup master MYDOMAIN (answer is the samba server), but if I look

Why net lookup master and the other cmd don't tell me the same thing? is

[Samba] Browsing problem with XP Media Center Edition

2006-12-21 Thread Per Mellander

Hi all!

I've got a samba-3.0.14a-2 running on a single subnet. It has been my
WINS server for a long time and has done well, until now. The dhcp
server on the subnet is telling all clients to use the file server as
WINS but when one of the employees here plugs in his XP Media Center
Edition, browsing is failing. It's failing by only showing the file
server, the XP MCE and eventually the client you are browsing from in
Network Nbh.

I'm getting this hits in nmbd.log when the XP MCE is plugged in:

[Samba] Browsing problem

2006-04-20 Thread Bokodi László
Hello,

I have a problem with browsing, (maybe not problem, but i can't configure it
successfully)

I have two subnets:

A B

---

10.254.129.0/24 | | 10.254.128.0/24

|--- Firewall/Router-|

Two Win2k3 DC| (dhcp relay) | Samba 3.0.21b (Debian)

(dhcp,dns)| | Win XP

.
---

I have configured the SAMBA to use AD authenticaton perfectly, but I'm in
trouble with the Browsing List.

In the subnet B, I have an XP, and i can't browse computers in Subnet A after
started nmbd. If I don't start nmbd the local master browser is the XP and I
can see other computers of Subnet A.

Firewall accept SMB connections between subnets. I tried to start samba with
local master and prefferred master option, but

It wasn't succesfull. I don't want to use WINS.

Can you help me resolve this problem?

Thanks a lot!

Boki

[Samba] Browsing problem

2005-05-18 Thread Andy Hawkins
Hi guys,

I've just upgraded from Debian Woody to Sarge, that involved upgrading my
working Samba setup to version 3.0.14. With no changes to my config file, I
now find that my windows machines cannot correctly browse the network. They
can open shares on the linux box if I do Start - Run
\\ip.address.of.machine but the browse list isn't showing up.

The samba server is correctly becoming the master browser, is a WINS server,
and the windows clients are set to use this WINS server.

Can anyone offer any assistance? The appropriate portion of smb.conf is
below. If any more information would be helpful, please let me know.

Many thanks

Andy

I have installed 3.0.6rc2 and I am seeing the same behaviour as before.
Am I doing something wrong??

[Samba] Browsing problem

2003-08-04 Thread Coffey Cpl Patrick O
Hi,
First, I think I should say I'm relatively new to linux and to using
samba. I'm trying to share a directory on my linux machine to the rest of my
network, the other computers are running win2k or xp. Now my share is setup
as follows:
[public]
 comment = Public Stuff
 path = /ddrive/public
 guest ok = yes

and in the global section I've defined security as follows:
security = share

Now to my understanding of samba this should be enough for the other win
machines to connect to my public share, however the win machines only see my
workgroup, and nothing in it; I checked LinNeighborhood and I can connect to
myself fine. Whats wrong here?

[Samba] Browsing Problem

2003-07-17 Thread Martin Stacey
I just had a Windows XP SP1 PC force an election and take over from my Samba
PDC as the master browser.

How is this possible?

My smb.conf file has these brosing parameters;

os level = 64
domain master = yes
local master = yes
preferred master = yes

I also have included a copy of my nmbd.log.

[Samba] Browsing problem after upgrading to 2.8

2003-03-19 Thread Frank Bruzzaniti
I was previously using samba 2.7a and everything was going fine. I upgraded
to 2.8 (because of the security update) and found that I could no longer browse
to my Samba server.

I used rpm -Uv to upgrade samba and have made no configuration changes, has
anyone else had the similar problem or is aware of a solution.

Thanks in advance,
   Frank

[Samba] BROWSING problem

2002-11-26 Thread Marian Mlcoch, Ing
Hi all
i can problem with browsing two separate workgroup on two routed networks.
First workgroup work on samba server with DMB and second on NT server as
workgroup TWO not domain.
On NT workgroup clients can browse all PC from all workgroup but on samba
net only samba workgroup.
I use wins on samba and control NT and samba settings by browstat from nt
reskit.
And problem is that NT is PBR MBR but not DMB (domain master browser).
Samba can only sync list with DMB as i read in docs.

How to can i set NT Server 4.0 SP6 to work as DMB but not PDC?
Is this posible? I try set regkey IsDomainMaster=Yes but nothing work NT is
only MBR. And on NT network segment not exist DMB.

Thanks for reply.
