I have no idea, I just checked the manpage, but if you
test it, send to the mail list, for sure it will add value to
the discussion, and perhaps some info to the manpage.

Well, I use Debian Sarge. I did an apt-get install samba and windbind.
I wrote my smb.conf

[global]
server string = Samba Proxy
password server = myserver
security = DOMAIN
encrypt passwords = true
workgroup = mywork
winbind separator =+
winbind uid = 1-2
winbind gid = 1-2
winbind enum users = yes
winbind enum groups = yes
