This is printer change notification stuff. Pay it no attention
for now.

Known bug in 2.2.4 relating to viewing printer properties from 2k client.

[Samba] Samba 2.2.4 and Printing with W2K

2002-06-10 Thread Paul Mitchell

Firstly, apologies for asking this again, I see that it cause a mail loop
lasttime.

We've setup samba(2.2.4, no patches) and installed the printer drivers using
the methods decribed in the printer_driver2.html. The drivers have appeared
to have install correctly, we you right click on the printer share and select
properties the relevent tabs for the printer driver appear. However, once
the printer is installed on the workstation the properties are no longer
accessible. The following enter are reported in the log under a debugging
level of 1:

[2002/06/10 11:25:55, 1] smbd/service.c:make_connection(651)
  STATION1W2K (192.168.2.147) connect to service print$ as user user1
(uid=547, gid=100) (pid 13880)
[2002/06/10 11:25:56, 0]
libsmb/cliconnect.c:attempt_netbios_session_request(1091)
attempt_netbios_session_request: STATION1W2K rejected the session for name
*SMBSERVER with error Not listening on called name
[2002/06/10 11:25:56, 0]
rpc_client/cli_spoolss_notify.c:spoolss_connect_to_client(98)
connect_to_client: machine STATION1W2K rejected the NetBIOS session request.
[2002/06/10 11:26:47, 1] smbd/service.c:close_cnum(692)
  STATION1W2K (192.168.2.147) closed connection to service print$
[2002/06/10 11:26:57, 0]
libsmb/cliconnect.c:attempt_netbios_session_request(1091)
attempt_netbios_session_request: STATION1W2K rejected the session for name
*SMBSERVER with error Not listening on called name
[2002/06/10 11:26:57, 0]
rpc_client/cli_spoolss_notify.c:spoolss_connect_to_client(98)
connect_to_client: machine STATION1W2K rejected the NetBIOS session request.

"enumprinters 1, for the printer (they are 25 in total), shows:
flags:[0x80]
name:[\\server1\PD_CTA_1235]
description:[\\server1\PD_CTA_1235,Xerox Phaser 1235 PS,]
comment:[]

"enumdrivers 2" for the Xerox printer driver shows:
Printer Driver Info 2:
Version: [3]
Driver Name: [Xerox Phaser 1235 PS]
Architecture: [Windows NT x86]
Driver Path: [\\server1\print$\W32X86\3\PSCRIPT5.DLL]
Datafile: [\\server1\print$\W32X86\3\XRPH1235.PPD]
Configfile: [\\server1\print$\W32X86\3\PS5UI.DLL]

I've seen mention of this problem being fix in 2.2.5, is it a known issue with
2.2.4 or just a problem with my setup. I understand that *SMBSERVER is what
the NetBIOS name is when an IP address is used to connect and not a NetBIOS
name. All the workstation name are set via ISC DHCP 3 and BIND 9 using the
interim update method, the DNS/DHCP also live on this box.

Thanks

Paul.
