If u type smb:/ and press RETURN, konqueror should browse automatically, of
course u have to setup the control center of KDE. U find it under

 - Internet Network
  - network browser

WITH KONQUEROR ONLY...THE WHOLE THING WORKS PERFECTLYI CAN DELETE THE
BLADY FOLDER ... WOW MAN !! THANX BRO.

i think the issue is with how linneighbourhood or smb4k loads the shares from
the linux server into the linux client. the permissions just get
screwed !!

anyway , pls answer A,C, D. pls take me up on B.

Also u have to setup lisarc. I have installed the package
 kdenetwork3-lisa-3.2.0-2, this may be SuSE-specific...

 THIS IS MY LISARC:

i have kde3.2 , no need to mess with these thingsin kde3.1 they were

 My directory for all users:
 drwxrwxrwx6 nobody nobody 4096 13. Apr 10:43 transfer/

ok...

C. Now that this nightmare is over.Tell me how you get your samba shares

one more thing i removed the force directory mode commands etc,etc from
the global section and placed them individually in shares section but still
no change.

i am wondering whether its due to the way i am viewing /mounting the shares
from the samba server...

my mandrake9.2/kde3.2 box has smb4k running. i use it to mount the relevant
shares. then in konqueror i do whatever operations i want such as

 delete files
rename files
rename folders

only deleting folders is not allowed

forgot that u are running samba version 2. I made the conf for 3.0.2a.

What you discribed now is mybe solved by:

 force create mode = 0777
 force directory mode = 0777

Re: [Samba] Unable to delete folders in samba shares-

2004-04-07 Thread mlist

sascha , my replies below.

The leading 0, hmm. This should explain all...

 http://www.cpqlinux.com/permissions.html

nothiing about the leading 0 , just rwxrwxrwx stuff

Do not really know why it does not work for u!?! Did u set security=share?

i just did. i was using security = user previously

U can also add 'force group = nobody' to ensure u have a very
 unrestrictive group there...

haven't done this yet...hmm ...done it now...still no luck

For example my exchange-directory for all users read and writeable:

 [Transfer]
 comment = exhange ur files
 path = /data/transfer
 force group = nobody
 read only = No
 force create mode = 0777
 force directory mode = 0777

All users can create and delete. From Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP, Mac OS X
and Linux connected through the konqueror with smb:/ - style.

I set the permissions of the share-directory like this:

 drwxrwxrwx5 nobody nobody 4096 7. Apr 12:10 transfer/

 Maybe is this the problem?!

ok i will change the ownership also , and lets see what happens

Otherwise I really don't know what else could be. Ah, another thing for ur
 root-problem, have a look in /etc/samba/smbusermap...

 Regards

my smbuser doesn't show root being mapped to mlist

Oh god...the nightmare continueswhat version of samba are you running by
the way

# This is the main Samba configuration file. You should read the

# many!) most of which are not shown in this example
#
# Any line which starts with a ; (semi-colon) or a # (hash)
# is a comment and is ignored. In this example we will use a #
# for commentry and a ; for parts of the config file that you
# may wish to enable
#
# NOTE: Whenever you modify this file you should run the command testparm
# to check that you have not made any basic syntactic errors.

# workgroup = NT-Domain-Name or Workgroup-Name

  netbios name = SERVER01

# server string is the equivalent of the NT Description field
   server string = Server %v

# Message command is run by samba when a popup message is sent to it.

# 2. Printing Options:
# CHANGES TO ENABLE PRINTING ON ALL CUPS PRINTERS IN THE NETWORK

# bsd, sysv, plp, lprng, aix, hpux, qnx, cups
