[Samba] samba-3.0.0beta2 reports internal error

2003-08-04 Thread entwicklung
hello list,

we're running samba-3.0.0beta2 with ldapsam backend on debian unstable.
when contacting the samba server from a nt4 client, windows reports an
unexpected network error and samba reports the following internal error:

i hope this error isn't caused by a misconfigured smb.conf, testparm
however reports no errors. any hints what causes this error or what i can
do?

thanks in advance,

[Samba] samba-3.0.0beta2-1 - lost connection to domain controller

2003-07-25 Thread Denis Heitbrock
hi,

some days ago i posted the message below. i found out that the problem
was that samba lost the connection to our nt 4.0 domain controller.
after i did "net join -w domainname -U Administrator" the probem was
solved. when i installed samba i did the net join to join our domain
with success.
yesterday we got the same problem again. the users couldnt write or
create files on the server and sometimes the response was that the
server hhd is full etc.
when we got this problems i also did again the net join and after that
the problems gone. it seems that about every 10 days samba lost the
connection to the domain controller. i also didnt remove the server from
our domain controller. why did samba lost the connection to the domain
controller? does anyone have the same problems?

Samba 3.0beta2 with ADS support.

Said my domain is named "MD" in an Active Directory environment

I joined MD, and tested my smb.conf with testparm :

I run 3 daemons, and try to see if i can fetch domain accounts :

# /usr/local/samba/bin/wbinfo -u | grep myaccount
MD+myaccount

Well, this looks like good. In addition, no error founded in the winbindd
log file
# cat log.winbindd
[2003/07/15 16:50:21, 1] nsswitch/winbindd_util.c:add_trusted_domain(139)
  Added domain MD

I then try to connect to my share via a windows client (whitchever it is),
and a dialog box appear prompting to enter another account/password.
The log.winbindd looks like this at this time :

[...]

I don't understand what's happen. I had some messages when i joined the
domain, but if it has failed, i couldn't fetch any account, could i?
I addition, i tried to change the security = DOMAIN in security = ADS,
without any success.

If anyone could point me on one direction, it would be greet.

Much better would be to use a PAM module - I will by happy to make any
adjustments that may be required to get our PAM code into better shape
for this kind of task.

None of the Samba Team members currently use AFS so this
code may have suffered from bit rot. Please feel free to
send us patches for this compile option if you are a heavy
afs user.

[Samba] samba-3.0.0beta2 compiling errors with afs

2003-07-09 Thread Helga Mayer
Did anybody succeed to compile samba-3.0.0beta2 with afs ?

I get the following errors:

Linking bin/smbd
auth/pass_check.o: In function `afs_auth':

source/auth/pass_check.c:50: undefined reference to `setpag'
source/auth/pass_check.c:51: undefined reference to
`ka_UserAuthenticateGeneral'

Any help is appreciated.

In order to get ADS support you have to compile SAMBA
with Kerberos- and LDAP- support.

I tried to compil and install samba-3.0.0beta2. I configured it with the
--with-acl-support and no error occured. The problem appear when i tried to
join an active directory domain.

firstly :
# /usr/local/samba/bin/net ADS JOIN MEMBER -S mydc -Umyname
ADS support not compiled in
However the configure --help said on Optional Packages:
[...]
--with-ads Active Directory support (default yes)
ok, let's try without ADS option :
# /usr/local/samba/bin/net JOIN MEMBER -S ip.of.my.dc -Umyname
[2003/07/08 11:38:29, 0] rpc_client/cli_netlogon.c:cli_nt_setup_creds(249)
 cli_nt_setup_creds: request challenge failed
[2003/07/08 11:38:29, 1] utils/net_rpc.c:run_rpc_command(154)
 rpc command function failed! (NT_STATUS_INVALID_COMPUTER_NAME)
Password:
Create of workstation account failed
Unable to join domain MYDOM.
Arg, this is not good for me.
Any idea?
