Unfortunately 3.0.14 isn't the latest code :-). 3.0.14a is the latest "stable" and Jerry is preparing to release a 3.0.20 pre-release. I suggest you try and reproduce with that first. Re: [Samba] trouble with long filename copy
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Dear Jeremy et all, Problem is reproduceable I manually upgraded all samba utils to 3.0.14 or equiv. A: under WinXP - -Create link to Samba share: in my case 'P on server' - -Copy a folder or (set of) file(s) to clipboard using [CTRL]+[C] - -Paste clipboard to link to share: in my case 'P on server' Windows comes back with a message saying something like 'copy can not be executed because share does not support long filenames' B: under WinXP (same machine as A) - -Map same share as in case A to network drive P: - -Copy a folder or (set of) file(s) to clipboard using [CTRL]+[C] - -Paste clipboard to P: Now the same copy does get executed correctly We're still talking about: server: Ubuntu Linux Hoary Hedgehog. + Samba 3.0.14 Client: WinXP + SP2 + all other 'bugfixes' Regards, Marout Jeremy Allison schreef: |On Mon, Jun 27, 2005 at 08:38:06AM +0200, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: | |>-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- |>Hash: SHA1 |> |>Dear Jeremy, |> |>Jeremy Allison schreef: |> |>|>|This sounds like a Win9x client bug only. [Samba] trouble with long filename copy
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 L.S. I'm a new member here. I've been using Samba for about 7 years now. Usually in Win 98/2K environment, but recently also in XP environments My server basis is either Debian or Ubuntu linux. Problem: when someone drags and drops a folder from one location to another on a windows client, they get an error saying "this location does not support long filenames" or "the filename contains characters not supported by the target" (since I'm not in vicinity of the offending system I heve to reproduce error messages from the mind) When in the same setup, content is copied to clipboard ([CTRL]+[C]) and subsequently pasted ([CTRL]+[V]), the problem does not occur... Does anyone have a clue? At first I thought of a codepage issue, but for Samba 3.0.10 neither SWAT nor the samba.org website shows codepage selection options in smb.conf Ubuntu uses [EMAIL PROTECTED] environment settings in this case.
