Betreff: [Samba] How to use the profiles - command ?

One problem when migrating from an NT-PDC to a 3.0.4SAMBA-PDC, the user ABC
has different SID's. So I want to change the SID of user ABC on the
SAMBA-PDC with the profiles-command.

Suggest:

User ABC in Domain NT has SID S-1-5-21-1234
User ABC in Domain LINUX has SID S-1-5-21-9876

So, on the Samba-Server I did:

Profiles -c S-1-5-21-9876 -n S-1-5-21-1234

I get the error message:
Could not open (null): Bad address

Can somebody tell me how to use the profiles-command

Thanks a lot
Dirk

AW: [Samba] How to use the profiles - command ?

2004-06-18 Thread Dirk Hennrichs
Hmm, but that woud not change the SID on the server, only in the Clients
Workstation Registry. I thought that the profiles - command should change
the SID on the Samba - Server, so that, by migrating from an NT-PDC to a
SAMBA-PDC, the SID are equal and that the user on the Windows-Workstation
can use the original profile ?!

And the ntuser.dat is on the workstation, we use local profiles. But the
profiles-command is a unix-binary. That means, that first I have to copy the
ntuser.dat on a share on the linux-server so that I can access the file. I
don't think this is the solution ;-(

A great question for me ;-

Re: AW: [Samba] How to use the profiles - command ?

2004-06-18 Thread Gémes Géza
Ok, but if you want to migrate from an NT server to Samba, then the only
thing you need to do is to join the NT servers domain and then do a net
getlocalsid DOMAINNAME, and after that a net setlocalsid on your Samba
box, and don't forget to do a net rpc vampire, to suck out your
existing NT accounts.
Having the same SID as before ensures, that the SIDs stored in profiles
are the same, as they should after the DOMAIN_SID-RID operation.

Cheers,
Geza
