AW: [Samba] How to use the profiles - command ?
Hmm, but that woud not change the SID on the server, only in the Clients Workstation Registry. I thought that the profiles - command should change the SID on the Samba - Server, so that, by migrating from an NT-PDC to a SAMBA-PDC, the SID are equal and that the user on the Windows-Workstation can use the original profile ?! And the ntuser.dat is on the workstation, we use local profiles. But the profiles-command is a unix-binary. That means, that first I have to copy the ntuser.dat on a share on the linux-server so that I can access the file. I don't think this is the solution ;-( A great question for me ;- -Ursprüngliche Nachricht- Von: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Im Auftrag von Arno Seidel Gesendet: Freitag, 18. Re: AW: [Samba] How to use the profiles - command ?
Ok, but if you want to migrate from an NT server to Samba, then the only thing you need to do is to join the NT servers domain and then do a net getlocalsid DOMAINNAME, and after that a net setlocalsid on your Samba box, and don't forget to do a net rpc vampire, to suck out your existing NT accounts. Having the same SID as before ensures, that the SIDs stored in profiles are the same, as they should after the DOMAIN_SID-RID operation.
