Are you using ACLs ? No, no ACLs. But I managed to solve this problem by accident, though I don't really understand why in detail. The problem only showed up when I mounted the share with username/password. When using domain\username/password everything runs as expected. Thanks for coming back to this. Chris Do you also have local users on the clients? Perhaps it is using the local SIDs instead of the domain ones. Then the file would indeed be unreadable if it is not world-readable. I *only* have local users/groups. We sync the unix users with the ADS Database using a specially written application. I didn't get a reply on this. Can anybody explain, why there's a difference in what samba considers a readable file when users are logged on to the domain or not? In case this is written up somewhere: A link to relevant docs would be very helpful.
