[sane-devel] Re: Fujitsu USB timeout issues
I've just tested the patch against the latest CVS and I still get the timeouts :(
[sane-devel] SANE, Darwin, Umax Vista-S6E problems
Hi, I'm sending the answer to sane-devel, also. On Mon, Nov 17, 2003 at 06:24:06AM -0800, Randolph Fritz wrote: > OK, so what next? I can do some debugging, but I need some help in > starting out. The umax backend must be just converted to sanei_thread. Have a look at the sane-devel archive, there was quite some discussion about that new interface. Some backend have already been converted, e.g. coolscan, hp, mustek, pie. If you want to change the backend code, you should start with getting the latest CVS version of sane-backends (from our homepage) and have a look at the already converted backends. sanei_thread is documented here: http://www.sane-project.org/sanei/sanei__thread_8h.html Bye, Henning
[sane-devel] [ANNOUNCE] Third pre-release of sane-backends 1.0.13 available
Hi everyone, The third pre-release of sane-backends 1.0.13 is available at ftp://ftp.mostang.com/pub/sane/sane-backends-1.0.13-pre3.tar.gz . This is the last pre-release before the final release. This pre-release contains some fixes for various backends. I'll attach the ChangeLog since the last pre-release. There is one known bug: If you use Linux 2.6 and its kernel headers are installed in /usr/include/linux the v4l backend will fail to compile. That's (hopefully) fixed in the current development version. For questions and comments, please follow-up to the sane-devel mailing list (sane-devel@lists.alioth.debian.org). Happy scanning! [sane-devel] hp scanjet 3670

Well, I would have been surprised if that had worked. That program is only for the older hp scanners (those that are supported by the SANE hp backend). If it had worked, you could have used the hp backend. > then > amble% scanimage -L > > device `hp4200:/dev/usb/scanner0' is a Hewlett-Packard HP-4200 flatbed > scanner The hp4200 backend is not included in SANE. If I remeber correctly, it detects any HP scanner so that doesn't mean taht it's supported by that backend. > scanner.c: ioctl_scanner: control_msg returned -110 I'm not really surprised :-) > May this means that the driver would be near th hp4200 one? And that I > can use it as a starting point? May be possible but I don't think so. hp4200 is an old backend and that would mean they use the old chipset again. It's a LM9830 parport chipset and a PV8630 parallel port-USB bridge. > The windows .inf file seems to say that the driver is the same than the > one for 2400 series and I see that someone was interested to write a > driver for 2400c. There is also a similarity reported to the 2300 series, but I don't know if that's really the case. Bye, Henning

After forcing the scanner module to recognize the scanner, I test the hp_scan.c programm in the scanner.txt doc of the kernel, but with no reponse of the scanner. then amble% scanimage -L device `hp4200:/dev/usb/scanner0' is a Hewlett-Packard HP-4200 flatbed scanner but when I try to run xsane: host/uhci.c: uhci_result_control() failed with status 4c [c13ee0c0] link (013ee062) element (013ef240) 0: [c13ef240] link (013ef270) e0 Stalled NAK CRC/Timeo Length=7 MaxLen=7 DT0 E ndPt=0 Dev=2, PID=2d(SETUP) (buf=088db9a0) 1: [c13ef270] link (0001) e3 IOC Active Length=0 MaxLen=7ff DT1 EndPt=0 Dev=2, PID=69(IN) (buf=) scanner.c: ioctl_scanner: control_msg returned -110 May this means that the driver would be near th hp4200 one? And that I can use it as a starting point? The windows .inf file seems to say that the driver is the same than the one for 2400 series and I see that someone was interested to write a driver for 2400c. Is there something already done? [sane-devel] Re: Fujitsu USB timeout issues
was there any sort of pattern to the timeouts? was the kernel scanner module loaded? on my system, if the device is freshly plugged in, and the scanner.o module has not been loaded (cause i removed it from the modules dir), i can run scanimage -d fujitsu --help over and over again, with no timeouts. this is true when the backend is patched or not, and seems to be because the backend sends only two bulk writes to the device when you do --help (inquiry and evpd). if you try that (just the fresh plugin, no scanner.o and the scanimage --help repeatedly) what does that do? allan On Mon, 17 Nov 2003, Peter Hartshorn wrote: > I've just tested the patch against the latest CVS and I still get the > timeouts > :( > > -- "so don't tell us it can't be done, putting down what you don't know. money isn't our god, integrity will free our souls" - Max Cavalera
