[sane-devel] Genius colorpage vivid III
Hello, Gerard, thanks for the info on the avigramm unit. I have another unit here which I am unsure of. I have checked the unsupported units list, but the product id differs from the unit that I have. Sane-find-scanner is coming back with this output, vendor=0x0458 product=0x2004, but Scanimage doesn't identify the scanner. Is this one another no hoper presently? Thanks again, Matt

Thanks again, Matt Hello Matt, No idee for this scanner, you should try the sane-find-scanner version-v -v (as root) from the sane-backend 1.0.13 or from the sane cvs. Maybe the scanner chip is detected, if not bad luck. Also see the http://www.sane-project.org/contrib.html if possible use the link to add the sane-find-scanner info to the form so that the info can be added to the unsupported list. -- -- m.vr.gr. [sane-devel] hp-backend: problem with USB-devices on Linux 2.6.x fixed
Hi, CVS has the hp-backend 1.06 that fixes a problem with USB-scanners on Linux 2.6.x. Thank's to Johannes Niediek for his tests. --Peter -- Peter Kirchgessner http://www.kirchgessner.net mailto:pe...@kirchgessner.net

Hi Matt, try the U12 backend out of the latest CVs snapshot. This device should be supported - at least partially... [sane-devel] Need recomendation linux/sane compat scanner w/ fast 2bit/greyscale ADF
After a long while of doing without, I may suddenly need a good scanner for a collection of documents. I would like to find something with the following characteristics, if anyone has tried a model that fits the bill. a) Linux and SANE compatibility exists today. Limited feature support OK. b) ADF (or ADF option) that has good paper-feed reliability c) USB (2.0/highspeed) or Firewire interface d) I really only care about fast b/w and greyscale 300dpi scanning through the ADF, controlled by the command-line interface. Other scanning concerns are very minimal, I could use a more common scanner for that. Hoping for something in the $400-$800 range (new, including ADF), depending on how fast it is for this type of scanning. I'd also be interested in SANE-ready models with very high scanning speeds that happen to cost a bit more ($1000-$2000). I really wish the HP 5550c had SANE compatibility, that model seems perfect otherwise. Thanks if anyone has any recommendations. __ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Finance Tax Center - File online.
