J?rgen Ernst,

I have a Canon CanoScan LiDE 500F, and have - as a "alpha-tester" - in this
development...

Thanks in advance,

the 500F uses a different protocol from the 600F.

[sane-devel] Error in HP LaserJet M1005 Backend

2008-01-29 Thread m. allan noah
Yes- the standard says that the backend should not assume that
sane_get_devices will be called before sane_open. a better fix might
be to check for this condition, could you try this instead?

SANE_Status
sane_open (SANE_String_Const name, SANE_Handle * h)
{
  struct device_s *dev;
  int ret;

  if(!devlist_head)
sane_get_devices(NULL,(SANE_Bool)0);

  dev = devlist_head;

  if (strlen (name))
...

if this works, and meets with the AUTHOR's approval, i will put this
in SANE CVS before release...

[sane-devel] Any progress on HP4890c?

Just wondering ...

Also wondering about the possibility of wrapping the win or mac drivers a
la ndiswrapper (not that I really know anything about that).

[sane-devel] Any progress on HP4890c?

2008-01-29 Thread robert w hall
Ah ndiswrapper!

We've been here before (and recently). In similar fashion, there's a guy
who has managed to extend wine to run his usb scanner, using a bodged
kernel module (emulating usbscanner.sys IIRC) - and it shouldn't need to
be within the kernel (with all those horrible spinlocks to learn) - it
could run round libusb in user mode -but it's a job for younger men I
fear :-)

[sane-devel] Plustek OpticSlim 2420

2008-01-29 Thread Crispin Kirchner
Hi I'm new to the mailing list (and mailing lists in common) and wanted
to ask if there's anything I can help. I own this scanner so perhaps
there's something I can do for getting the support further. I cannot
really program yet (I'm only able to do some little programming in
Assembler and Java and the source code I downloaded from the CVS was
interesting for me but I couldn't understand any of it ;-) but I would
like to offer my help (if there's something for people like me) and ask
how far this scanner's working by now (I found some posts about it in
the mailing list archive).
