[sane-devel] Reflecta RPS 7200
Hello, I'm trying the get the Reflecta RPS 7200 to work with pieusb, so far with little success. I can find the scanner with sane-find-scanner: - "found USB scanner (vendor=0x05e3, product=0x0144) at libusb:001:014" I want to add a relevant line to pieusb.conf, but I require the model number for this as well, which I do not know. scanimage -L in debug mode does not find the scanner nor show me any info about it (it only lists the scanners enabled by default and the ones listed in the config file). Do you know how I could find the model number? Also, this scanner supports automatic transport of film (but not slides). Should I enable "has-slide-transport" in the config file or not? I'm running up-to-date arch with the newest git version of sane. Thanks a lot! Re: [sane-devel] Hiring a SANE developer for custom backend
I'll quickly chime in for those that actually work for a living, likely now have to slave to live nowadays. As such, many of the hard workers are just simply exhausted. Guess this was just one of those changes that occurred over the past years; rewarding hard workers with not rewards, but rewarding with more work. signature.asc Description: Digital signature -- sane-devel mailing list: sane-devel@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/sane-devel Unsubscribe: Send mail with subject "unsubscribe your_password" to sane-devel-requ...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Re: [sane-devel] Hiring a SANE developer for custom backend
Hi Brandon, I saw Torfinn's reply but wanted to chime in with my take on it. Just want a cost estimate and we can talk about the work for > it. Kind of shock there have been no replies so far. Not all that shocking. I used to work pretty much full-time on EPSON scanner driver development for Linux. Now I do web development related work but still hang around here at the SANE project as a *volunteer*. While I wouldn't mind earning something on the side, my current employer does not allow that. So I would have to do the work unpaid but I'm not sure that wouldn't raise an eyebrow at the office (potential conflict of interest and such). That is also why am I not taking up maintenance of the various backends that support EPSON scanners (they're unmaintained at the moment). Also, there are more fun things to do with my free time than add support for a scanner. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the SANE developers feel the same way ;-) Hope this clarifies a bit and good luck finding any takers, -- Olaf Meeuwissen, LPIC-2FSF Associate Member since 2004-01-27 GnuPG key: F84A2DD9/B3C0 2F47 EA19 64F4 9F13 F43E B8A4 A88A F84A 2DD9 Support Free Softwarehttps://my.fsf.org/donate Join the Free Software Foundation https://my.fsf.org/join -- sane-devel mailing list: sane-devel@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/sane-devel Unsubscribe: Send mail with subject "unsubscribe your_password" to sane-devel-requ...@lists.alioth.debian.org

Since nobody is paid to work on the SANE project, my guess is that there isn't anyone of the developers that work on this full time. This is a project, not a business. Which means that those who develops this project do it on their own free time, when they don't do other interesting or fun things. Also, it has only been a week since your first post. If you give it more time, you might get an answer. Or not. (I'm not a developer, just a user with an interest.)
