*Lead Java JEE Developer – **EMF Lead Developer   (Enterprise Media
Framework)*

*PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES*

*Design, Development and Testing*

·         Leads project activities during analysis and development phases.

·         Prioritizes, advises and focuses developers on key activities
during the project.

·         Works with the team on designing complex software solutions
according to defined application requirements.

·         Develops software components as per the requirement.

·         Performs unit testing and debugging of applications.

·         Identifies complex integration and user acceptance test scenarios.

·         Provides technical support through all testing phases and general
releases of software.

·         Adheres to department programming standards and methodology.

·         Consults within the team to identify infrastructure capacity
requirement.



*Production Support:*

·         Participates in production support activities.

·         Identifies complex problems and analyzes potential solutions
including workarounds.

·         Performs tuning, repairs and/or maintenance to production
applications.

·         Work with other IT departments on integrated system support, as
required.



*Administrative:*

·         Performs workload planning, tracking accomplishments, team
meetings and status reporting.

·         Works within development and infrastructure teams to continually
improve application environment while documenting all system changes.

·         Provides technical assistance and mentoring to junior associates.

·         Communicates plans, status and issues to management on a regular
basis.

·         Adheres to department standards, policies, procedures and

*Departmental Responsibilities:*

·         Perform robust and continuous quality improvement of the EMF
applications.

·         Provide input on multiple projects and balancing multiple tasks
and priorities.

·         Review and coaching developers on coding standards and practices.

·         Developing comprehensive technical processes flows, system
security modeling and the end user interfaces.

·         Serves as a coach to contractor resources, to ensure that project
SDLC processes and procedures are followed and adapted to support project
goals.

·         Solid understanding of SDLC from design through production
implementation required.

·         Must be able to lead troubleshooting of production issues.

·         Ability to supervise work and confirm all prerequisites are
completed.

·         Detail oriented.

·         Organizes and extends existing operations and troubleshooting
documentation.

·         Serves as a coach to expand knowledge of the application.



*POSITION SUMMARY:*
Drive expansion and improvements to Client* Enterprise Media Framework (EMF*)
applications. Client’s EMF group is used to manage and globally distribute
digital media content and its associated metadata for Client, its partners
and customers. This position will design and implement scalable, quality
based media management solutions that expand the EMF”s capabilities,
integrate it into the media supply chain and drive business value for
Client. The EMF Lead Developer will play a key part in this initiative by
implementing the components designed by architects.


The *EMF Lead Developer *must work well in development team, and closely
with architecture and testing teams and be a pro-active solution-oriented
individual with strong written and verbal communication skills. The EMF
Lead Developer must have experience developing and architecting robust,
quality software solutions. A solid understanding of technological
ecosystem is required. Specific responsibilities include software design,
test driven development, oversee other developer activities, trouble
shooting, documentation and presentation, performance tuning and improving
infrastructure reliability.

*Technical Requirements:*

Excellent programming skills with JEE tech stack; core Java 5+, EJB2.1+,
JMS, JDBC, JNDI, JAXB, XML, XSD, XSLT, Jersey (or any other RESTful
framework), Axis or CXF, Spring3 framework, JPA or Hibernate, JUnit and
Maven or ANT, PL/SQL, Oracle 11g, Servlets, JSP, HTML, JQuery, CSS, UML,
JBoss 7.x, RHEL, SVN and JIRA.



*Knowledge and Experience:*

·         *Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in design and
development of multi-tier JEE applications.*

·         Extensive experience in developing web service clients and
providers for RESTful and SOAP implementations.

·         Advanced understanding and hands-on experience in client-side
technologies and frameworks.

·         In-depth knowledge of RDBMS including knowledge of data modeling.

·         Extensive experience working with Oracle databases.

·         Extensive experience employing Java design patterns and SOA
patterns and in following industry adopted software development best
practices.

·         Thorough understanding and working knowledge of software
development methodologies such as Waterfall and AGILE (Scrum or equivalent).

·         Advanced understanding of source code repositories and branching
and merging strategies.

·         Proven track record building Java-based solutions for highly
available and scalable systems on RHEL platform and JBoss AS.

·         Development experience at YouTube (Google), Netflix, Hulu, Vudu,
or other movie studios is highly desired for this role.

·         Experience with Digital Asset Management systems, OpenText, is a
plus.

·         Experience with accelerated file transport technologies such as
Signiant or Aspera is a plus.

·         Good understanding of deployment strategies for distributed and
multi-tiered applications.

·         Knowledge of Entertainment industry business practices a plus.

·         Experience supporting a high-availability environment, nearly
24/7 operation a plus.

*Skills:*

·         Proven track record for quality and performance of code
deliverables.

·         Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.

·         Well-versed

·         and comfortable working across Linux, Oracle and Windows
architectures.

·         Capable of translating complex business needs into technical
solutions.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·         Ability to document technical designs using UML.
