usage b. Tearadata Priority scheduler to define priority definition sets .

Recovery. a. Know how to take backup and restore tables from one
environment to another environment through Veritas Netbackup. b. Knowledge
of OPC scheduler to perform backup jobs. C. Multi-value Compression
Analysis: a. Perform periodically analysis on production tables to
determine if multi-value compression values are still valid. b. Determine
if new values need to be implemented to better optimize space utilization
and improve system performance by reducing IO. c. Implement Multi-value
compression. d. Adding compression values for new columns added to existing
tables. e. Understand how good Multi-value compressions values can be
overlaid and lost by certain techniques when table are copied. D. Access
Rights, Roles and DBC.AccessRights table maintenance: a. Understand
Teradata's implementation of explicit, implicit and inherited access rights
and LexisNexis use of these different rights. b. Understand the
implementation of Roles at LexisNexis. c. Role creation, consolidate access
rights within Roles and reduce redundant access rights. d. Maintain
DBC.AccessRights view to reduce size of table to enhance system
performance. E. Annual transfer of yearly data to BIS_HIST: a. Annually,
after March of each year, the oldest year of data in several tables are
transferred to corresponding '_HIST' tables in BIS_HIST database. b. PPI
values may need to be changed c. Multi-value compression values may need to
be changed F. Statistics Management a. Good statistics collection practices
are vital to system performance. b. Recommend and/or make changes to
statistics collection which may involve changes to batch jobs ,adding or
deleting columns statistics , changing the types of statistics collected,
full or sample , insure frequency of collection of statistics is optimized
c. Analysis current statistics to determine absolute, missing or
inappropriate Statistics d. Understand the impact and ability to determine
when poor statistics are adversely affecting system performance. e.
Understand how good statistics can be overlaid and lost by certain
techniques when table are copied. G. Secondary Index Analysis a.
Demonstrate how to determine if existing secondary indexes are worth the
cost in disk space and maintenance CPU and IO costs. b. Understand the
various types of secondary indexes and how Teradata uses secondary indexes.
c. Know how to determine if a new secondary index is being used to solve a
d. Performance problem H. DBQL and Profiles: a. Demonstrate how to create
and maintain DBQL parameters and Profiles and Understand the relationship
between them b. Demonstrate how DBQL needs to be maintain when Teradata
system software is Upgraded to higher releases (this is maintenance that
must be applied in-house and is not performed by Teradata personal). c.
Demonstrate how to retrieve useful information from DBQL data for assisting
in System tuning and query performance. I. PPI Management: a. Demonstrate
how to maintain PPI values in DBQL tables in SYSMACRO database b.
