The location can be either San Jose or Irvine, CA
Duration: 6-8 months
Monday thru Friday work week
Rate is all inclusive

Client is a cutting edge, fast paced, exciting engineering company. The
client’s Engineering Infrastructure team is seeking an experienced IT
Storage Manager to lead a team of storage architects and system
administrators, all with the goal of designing, optimizing, and supporting
a Enterprise Storage Infrastructure. The Storage Manager along with his
team will define, document and implement storage strategy, direction and
architectures for global engineering.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Storage Infrastructure modernization acumen along with a core ability to
design, diagram and continuously adapt an architecture roadmap that will
meet new storage demands.
• Distinct capability for applying empirical techniques and methods for
determining storage needs by generating quantitative output (capacity
planning, sizing, scalability, performance efficiency, TCO) that can be
substantiated prior to purchasing decisions.
• Research, evaluate, design, plan, and implement new and complex
technologies into the current operating environment. Make recommendations
and define the ROI for new data management technologies.
• Storage Sourcing, Vendor relationships, Enterprise Cost Reduction,
Storage Consolidation, Backup and recovery Methodologies, Storage
Replication and Disaster Recovery experience.
• Knowledge of Business Continuity processes, experience with Data Backup
Infrastructure, Information Life Cycle Management.
• Ability to work in a large organization where you have to work with other
corporate service providers and outsourcers across multiple time zones
• Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to present to
executive management
• Strong problem solving and ability to exercise mature judgment
In order to be successful, the candidate must be passionate about strategic
planning, emerging technology trends and researching creative solutions
with partners/ peers in the industry. Excellent interpersonal skills,
communication, and leadership/influence skills will be critical for success.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualities:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a
related technical field
• 10+ years of UNIX system and enterprise storage management experience
with 5 years of management experience leading strategic planning effort
• Experience in Enterprise Storage Architecture with diverse technologies
such as NetApp, EMC Isilon etc.
• Hands on technical expertise and automation focus
• Experience with EDA tools and environments strongly preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

These are the few pointers the client gave us indicating 1-4 should be
mandate.

Pointers given by the client are: points 1 to 4 are mandate and 5 is a good
to have

1.Relevant industry experience (Semiconductor, EDA)
2.Extensive experience with big NAS environments (3-5 TB)
3.Technology architect for NetApp, EMC Isilon, EMC Networker
4.Perl/ Shell scripting and Unix automation experience
5.Good Unix system administration background
