This position is primarily a day shift position with some after hours work
for implementations.
Candidates must be able to look at the Oracle databases/associated
processes and, ultimately, make recommendations on how to make the Oracle
DB landscape more resilient/with higher performance.
Ability to identify/diagnose/triage an issue in the landscape before it
escalates.
Resource is expected to have done coding as a DBA in the past and bring
deep knowledge of the performance aspects of the Oracle database.
They will be expected to work directly with a group of developers and be
able to communicate an issue and provide tactical
recommendations/suggestions to the developers on how to resolve it within
the environment.
Transform business requirements into solutions through the design,
development, and maintenance of data warehouse data flows
Proactively resolve application and database performance issues.
Design / implement a revised statistics gathering process
Resolve I/O wait time issues
Resolve resource contention on long running queries
Maintain currency in database, data management, data warehouse, and
industry trends through research/education/self-motivated training and
personal development
Updates and communicates project status to management, team members, and
other supporting vendors
Mentors and educates colleagues with respect to database design and
implementation practices
Develop and monitor batch schedules
Enforce application coding standards
Coordinate database development and maintenance activities with project and
client teams

Position Description
The System Middleware and Database Administration sub team is responsible
for all Oracle database instances, the Oracle database system
configuration, application server administration, MiCSES Document Archiving
administration, and vendor application software/database maintenance for
all production and development environments.
Experience and Required Skills
3 years experience Oracle database management in a technical environment
similar in size, scope, and complexity to MiCSES.
3 years experience Documentum configuration and management in a technical
environment similar in size, scope, and complexity to MiCSES.
3 years technical background in:
Tru64 Unix/Oracle administration
HP-UX Unix/Oracle administration
Apache Web Server knowledge
Oracle Application Server (OAS) expertise for the most current version of
OAS as well as 12c, including but not limited to, Forms services, Report
services, Oracle Process Manager, Enterprise Manager, Oracle Internet
Directory, Oracle Enterprise Security protocols, Metadata Repository,
Webcache, mod_oc4j, moc_perl, AJP 1.3, AJP 1.4
Distributed configuration management tools
Oracle application server infrastructure suite of products bundled with
10gAS
Ability to update application server configurations, export instance
configurations, create clusters, import saved configurations, create OC4J
containers and application contexts, and load balance OC4J containers using
islands across instances
Familiarity with XML parsers, DTD specifications, SML based PDF generation,
SSH specifications, and Public Key Encryption/Cryptography
UNIX-based skills including RC4, Certification Authorities, SSL and Single
Sign On, Korn Shell scripting, Perl and Java
Database administration skills including SQL, Oracle 12c/latest version
RDBMS, all Oracle 12c tools, Oracle IAS 1gAS, J2EE compliant enterprise
architecture configuration and administration, Enterprise Tomcat 3.x/4.x
Advanced Oracle performance tuning skills

Job Description:
Create and maintain databases required for DEV, TEST, DR, PROD, and other
environments as directed
Backup and restore databases (e.g. hot/cold, active clone, flashback, etc.)
Execute post-clone DB procedures for CET Applications
Perform ongoing tuning of database instances
Administer database roles and security
Administer database objects, including tables, clusters, indexes, views,
sequences, packages, and procedures
Troubleshoot and support problems regarding database, applications, and
development tools.
Evaluate Oracle releases and tools (patches, hotfixes, versions, etc.)
Proficient in PL/SQL (variables, cursors, stored procedures, parameters,
triggers, exception handling, etc.)

Provide Oracle DBA support for CET Project as directed by Technical
Architecture Lead.
Performance Tuning - Perform ongoing tuning of database instances

Create and maintain databases required for DEV, TEST, DR, PROD, and other
environments as directed

-Advise on and provide alternative (out of the box) solutions
-Provide thought leadership as well as hands on technical
configuration/development as needed.
-Participate as a team member of the functional team
-Perform other duties as assigned.
