Job Title   :   QA Engineer
Locations :San Jose,CA
Duration   : 6 months contract

Principle Accountabilities
Developing complete test plans covering a variety of system protocols and
feature functionality for core product lines and customization project
requests.
Will write, review and update test requirements, plans, procedures &
reports.
Will review and provide feedback to the functional specs and other technical
documentation created by junior level engineers.
Must be able to translate engineering level requirements into complete tests
cases.
Must be able to critique, correct and improve existing test cases, test
plans and processes.
Must be able to communicate clearly any defects/issues that you observe
through the execution of your test cases.
Must be able to assess and prioritize defects/issues across a wide area of
projects and products.
Must be able to interface and communicate at a system level with core
development engineers.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
* Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical
Engineering or Computer Design
Proficient in Linux/Unix
Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, TCL or equivalent
Proficient in shell programming
Experience with data networking technologies
Experience with various Software Development Methodologies
Experience with Software Development Life Cycle
Experience with Software Test and Quality Assurance methodologies
Experience with test tools and test automation as it applies to system level
testing of protocol based devices

Knowledge of or experience with the following protocols and technologies are
preferred:
C/C++
Device Drivers (WIFI, HPNA, MOCA, ENET, POTS, DSL, MPEG-2, MPEG-4/H.264)
Residential Routing - IP/IGMP, ARP, DHCP, NAT, ACL, Firewall
Device Management * TR-069/TR-098
Session Protocols * SIP, IMS
Database Management * Oracle, SQL
Lab Support - Inventory Management, Installation/Turn up, Test
Equipment/Auto Calibration
Broadband - ADSL2(+), VDSL2, ATM, IP, QoS
API level test development
UI Protocols * HTML, XML, Java
Voice - SIP, RTP/RTCP, Codecs (G.711, G.729), echo cancellation, jitter
buffer
Defect Tracking - Jira

Create use cases, Develop and maintain test specifications

Test cases

Test scripts and test data

Implement test practices

Standards and processes

Troubleshoot test issues

Record rest results

Track and prioritize defects

Participate in product readiness and release decisions and establish fact
based measures of test efficiency

Effectiveness and product readiness

Responsible for estimating, coordinating, directing testing for multiple
products/projects



*Required skills*:



5+ years of software quality assurance on highly complex and/or multiple
projects, including manual test case execution, defect tracking, test
plan/test case creation and management, and requirements analysis.

2+ years software development experience as Client/Server Application
Developer or Web Application Developer (J2EE)

2+ years testing web-based applications

1+ years performance testing experience, MVS mainframe development
environment, JCL, TSO, processing batch jobs and working with production
development environment

Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Information Science (or equivalent)
