Duties: We are seeking an individual capable of working as part of a test team to plan and execute functional testing. Primary duties include: - Creation of test plans, procedures, and scripts using Rational RQM to support the evolving software provided in multiple releases. - Work with both the Test Team and the QA Lead to implement the test plans. - Generate test plans, cases and scripts using IBM/Rational's RQM and ReqPro tools. - Execute tests and analyze results - Record defects in IBM/Rational's ClearQuest. Specifically: - Analyze customer’s business use cases within ReqPro that describe customizations to the out of the box functions of a package-based system in order to validate that test cases generated sufficiently test the application as built. - Develop test strategies, test plans, and test procedures for interface testing with other systems. This will include selecting specific test cases for interface testing, developing detailed test procedures for each test case, grouping test cases into test runs, creating/preparing data required by each test run, and coordinating tests with other systems' support staff. - Coordinate and participate in tests, as applicable. Provide weekly and daily job briefings to all test participants. - Maintain records of test execution, test results, and defects identified. - Analyze and score test results. - Develop test reports and prepare briefings to project, QA and development team management. - Work with infrastructure team on resolving issues with the QA environment and ensure that the environment is sufficiently capable of supporting testing efforts. - Receive direction from the Test Team Lead and contribute to discussions of recommended improvements in testing processes and in methods to reduce defects. - Report testing defects to development team via ClearQuest. Special Skills: - Experience in reviewing system documentation; and preparation of test planning and test execution documentation. - Proficiency with business software (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio etc.). - Strong written and verbal English skills, with ability to generate complex technical documents and to brief QA lead and development staff on defects detected. - Experience with automated testing. - Ability to work on problems of diverse scope and multiple technologies. Should have an understanding of the system components that may be the source of defects such as the database, hardware, middleware, application code, user interface, batch processes, etc. - Ability to work independently or with cross-functional teams as required. - Detail oriented. - Experience with Rational Tool Set - Clearquest, RQM, RSM.
