BNY Mellon is searching for an individual who will function as a Senior QA
Test Lead.


SUMMARY:

Responsible for creation, execution, and verification of tests in a
mainframe environment to support a financial application used in the mutual
fund/broker community.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

Work in a team environment with business, system and programmer analysts,
utilizing a formal workflow process as used in the Subaccounting MFG
environment.

Analyze business and functional requirements for completeness.

Provide work estimates to be used for billing and scheduling purposes.

Derive valid test cases based on an analysis of functional requirements and
program design specifications to formulate test plans and methodology.

Write detailed test plans supporting test cases derived from an analysis of
functional requirements and programming specifications.

Execute and test software, documenting validation of test scenarios,
defects, and resolution. Execution involves submitting jobs in a batch mode
with a smaller amount of screen testing.

Analyze test results; review test plans and supporting execution
documentation as required.

Maintain testing database and environment, including necessary set-up and
back ups.

Work with programming staff to analyze code to determine source of problem.

Provide test output to relevant parties including Business and Systems
Analysts, business partners, Client Services Reps, and documentation
department in an organized manner. This includes preparing all relevant
documents and presenting in a meeting format the results.

Read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals,
financial reports, and requirements documents. Respond both orally and in
writing to common inquiries.

Perform Database maintenance including file maintenance as necessary to
support individual test scripts and regression test databases for on release
testing. The “database” is a set of flat files.

Project management as needed to coordinate execution and delivery of user
software, following internal work flow process to meet client deliverables.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Must have a minimum of five years of Quality Assurance Manual testing
experience in a software development or financial industry, in a mainframe
environment. This needs to include experience in analyzing testing needs off
of business requirements, creating test cases and test plans, and executing
test plans. Experience can not be limited to testing with automated testing
tools only or testing only in a client server environment.

Must have experience at manipulating non-relational, flat files (our version
of a database) to create necessary data required for testing.

Four year college or university program degree preferred.

Strong communications skills both orally and in writing. Must be able to
present test plan, test cases, and test results to an audience of project
participants, management, customers, or other technical personnel.

Mathematical and analytical background strongly recommended due to amount of
calculations involved in test verification.

Ability to work independently, provide status to management and team
members, and be willing to speak up when problems arise, alertly team
members and management to issues.

Mutual Fund and Financial experience a plus.


REASONING ABILITY:

Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data,
establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an
extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


DESIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• Understanding of VMS DCL and Microsoft Windows
• Experience with Microsoft Access or other relational database
• Extensive experience with Microsoft Windows application including Word and
Excel.
