*Job Description*
- A highly motivated developer/engineer, utilizing Rack Space cloud
environment for development tasks. Need to take ownership for the
interfaces that will need to be developed as part of this Job.
- Develop the aforementioned interfaces based on Agile project
requirements, Core team & Vendor inputs and by data mining.
- Participate in technical design, and act as an authoritative
application & development expert to other application development teams
concerning all aspects of application.
- Ability to come up with Innovative solutions that can be developed,
tested and deployed fairly quickly in an Agile manner.
- Analyze and prepare recommendations to address existing and potential
trouble areas in system as part of a continuous improvement process in
consideration of changes in business environment, improvements in
scalability, availability & maintainability
- Active involvement in design & development activities including the
creation of class models, sequence diagrams, detailed design specifications
to ensure that requirements are met and technology standards are followed.
- Closely work with the product manager, project management, chief
architect and external vendors to plan application/interface releases and
content of releases.
*Project-specific details:*
- Participate in One Controller Common Interface designs (Client-VDP,
and VDP-Controllers)
- One Controller VDP development, and integration w/ Cisco and Arris
controllers
- Unifying the core components including event interfaces
- Expansion to new Distribution channels (Mobile, Web 2.0) for unified
support and feature set for Divisions
- Work on HA distributed databases
- Partial ownership of One Controller Portal
- Assist with System management design work
*Must Have:*
- 7+ years of experience working in a software engineering discipline
with hands on development experience.
- Bachelor's degree (BS) in Computer Science/Engineering or any other
top tier IT discipline.
- Solid experience working with web services (REST, SOAP/WSDL &
XML/XSLT) required.
- Solid working knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP/S,
SNMP& SSH.
- Demonstrable Experience with Relational Databases (Oracle),
LDAP/X.500, JDBC, XMPP & AMQP is needed.
- J2EE development experience in a cloud environment or an enterprise
setting is a strong plus.
- Experience with enterprise messaging systems and designing
asynchronous applications using technologies such as JMS, AMQP/RabbitMQ or
XMPP is required.
- Experience working with open source software such as Spring,
Hibernate, Hadoop, Apache Commons, Tomcat, and MySQL is preferred.
- Strong Object Oriented Analysis and Design/UML/AOP skills. Must have
good understanding of database design/ERDs.
- Prior experience with Virtualization &RackSpace Cloud Infrastructure
is needed.
- Comfortable with Linux shell scripting as well as a few scripting
languages such as Perl, Python & Ruby.
- Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle in Agile
environment
- Must be a good team player with excellent communication skills,
presentation skills and attention to detail with a strong sense of
ownership of tasks.
*Nice to Have:*
- Good understanding of leveraging Big Data technologies is a plus.
- Knowledge of Video Controller Systems is a strong plus.
