Position:  Android Developer

Location: Cincinnati, OH

Duration: 6 months (possible extensions)


*Must be able to F2f after a phone screen*



Direct client is  currently seeking Sr. Android Developer(s) for 6+
contract assignments.

This position involves leading custom mobile development throughout the
entire project life cycle.  Android developers are capable of full cycle
project leadership including application architecture, design input, site
layout/user interface, database design/programming, and utilizing
Enterprise Application Framework (EAF). The right individual for this role
will be a motivated and energetic developer who takes initiative, enjoys
finding solutions to a varying number of challenges, is detail-oriented,
and takes extreme pride in their work.



*RESPONSIBILITIES:*

·   Lead and participate in the design and implementation of large
and/or architecturally significant applications

·   Mentor team members in web development principles, patterns,
processes and practices

·   Champion company standards and best practices

·   Strive to be a thought leader in web development technologies
and practices

·   Build partnerships across application, business and
infrastructure teams

·   Communicate effectively with both business and technical
audiences

·   Document designs and specifications

·   Implement solutions that can solve common problems

·   Research relevant technology trends and recognize trends that
are relevant to the retail industry

·   Work to continuously improve web development processes and
practices





*REQUIREMENTS:*

·   5+ years of mobile development in Android

·   5+ years  of experience as a Software Developer with a focus on
Java EE solutions

·   2+ years of rapid web development, using HTML, Java,
JavaScript, Angular JS

·   A solid understanding of web application development processes,
from the layout/user interface to relational database structures

·   Familiarity with popular open source projects including Spring,
Hibernate, Android Studio, IntelliJ, Ant, Maven, Junit, Git

·   Understanding of the REST architecture

·   Familiarity with the NodeJS ecosystem

·   Familiarity with grid systems and preprocessors such as
Bootstrap, SASS, and Less

·   Strong organization skills to manage multiple timelines and
complete tasks quickly within the constraints of clients’ timelines and
budgets

·   Ability to quickly learn and apply new skills

·   No SQL development (e.g. Cassandra, DCSolr, etc…) experience is
preferred

·   Experience with Micro Services and Cloud technologies is
preferred.

·   Degree in Computer Science or related field

·   Familiarity with Ionic and Cordova a plus

Senior Android Developer



Responsibilities

· Design, develop, deploy, and support high-quality, compelling
Android applications

· Work with Business Analysts to review and understand business
requirements and functional specifications

Required Technical Skills

· Expert-level knowledge of Java syntax and design patterns

· Strong concurrent programming skills

· Development of Android applications that support Jelly Bean
through KitKat

· Expert-level knowledge of Android application development,
including coding, builds, continuous integration, unit testing

· Android application deployment to the Play Store, covering all
steps from project initiation to successful store deployment

· Experience with Android navigation, mapping, notification, and
networking frameworks

· Thorough understanding of the constraints of mobile device
development and the ability to implement robust and efficient management of
battery life, volatile and non-volatile memory, and network data usage

· Extensive experience developing for both phone and tablet
platforms

· Experience developing applications for devices from multiple
manufacturers and carriers

· Expert-level software debugging skills, including application
performance and memory usage profiling

· Experience writing custom controls for Android

· Relational database (lite) schema design and senior-level RDBMS
programming skills including writing and tuning queries

· 1+ years of Agile development experience

· Senior-level OOP skills

· Experience in all phases of the software development process,
from ideation to delivery

· Extensive experience with Unit Testing and TDD

· Experience reliably consuming RESTful services (both JSON and
XML-based) from an Android client


Required Tool Experience

· Git

· Eclipse

· OSX and/or Linux

· Hudson and/or Jenkins
Required Soft Skills

· Strong task and time management skills

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Strong team player
