Position:   L3 - ORACLE DBA Consultant

Location:   Vienna, VA

Duration:  6 Months with possibility of Extension

Rate:Best $/Hr All Inclusive

Start Date: ASAP

Positions:  One

 

Required Skills:

 

ü  The position requires a minimum of 5-8 years of experience as an Oracle DBA

ü  Effective communication skills are critical, both written and oral, and the 
capability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team.

ü  Provide guidance to less experienced database analysts where applicable 
including guidance for troubleshooting escalated issues

ü  Partner with offshore DBA resources and thoroughly document processes to 
ensure successful implementation by offshore staff and Production Control

ü  24/7 Incident Response to database alerts from production monitoring tools 
and Command Center personnel

ü  Analyze Key Performance Metrics using OEM management packs

ü  Optimize Oracle resource utilization by tuning queries, recommending 
indexes, and configuring database instance parameters

ü  Maintain the integrity of data within the production environment including 
the execution of proper backup and restoration policies and procedures which 
provide point-in-time restore capabilities

ü  Enhance site monitoring to improve availability and performance

ü  Perform database capacity planning and trend analysis

ü  Strong Knowledge of Oracle 10g/11g, RAC, ASM, Dataguard, Compression, 
replication installation, configuration, maintenance, and patching procedures.

ü  Experience with partitioning, replication, multi-level security, clustering, 
distributed transactions, OLTP, and OLAP.

ü  Experience with managing Oracle systems on UNIX platform a plus (Sun Solaris 
and LINUX).

ü  SQL & PL/SQL performance tuning

ü  Database systems documentation

ü  Apply regular maintenance and critical patch updates in a timely manner; 
Proactively research potential issues that may be encountered as a result of 
infrastructure upgrades and share that information with the affected groups

ü  Use Oracle and 3rd party tools to troubleshoot and resolve production issues

-  ER modeling using industry standard modeling tools,  understanding 
of Object/Relational data Modeling. 

-  Extensive programming development in PL/SQL 

-  Familiar with Oracle programming tools and utilities.   

-  Familiar with ETL and data extraction processes from other 
databases. 

-  Structured development methodologies,  coding standards, 
troubleshooting, debugging, familiar with code check-in(s), code release 
management and implementation cycles. 

-  Understanding of Oracle internals,  data dictionaries, metadata and 
internals of Oracle 9i, Oracle10G or above. 

-  Identifying database performance bottlenecks,  performance turning, 
SQL/Query optimization  

-  Knowledge of Oracle database clustered environment such as 
Oracle/RAC.

-  Provide support to developers during development and 
post-implementation cycles

 

Additional technical skills --

*   Oracle RMAN backup and Recovery 
*   Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) 
*   Database / UNIX –AIX OS / hardware performance tuning 
*   4 to 5 years of solid prior experience in designing and architecting 
database infrastructure (database, storage and applications) and solutions in a 
clustered and non-clustered environments 
*   Oracle upgrade from 10g to 11g 
*   UNIX shell scripting automating procedures 
*   Oracle Enterprise Manager (Grid) implementations 
*   Very strong capabilities troubleshooting database issues
*   Should have excellent communication skills, able to interface at the 
customer & internal teams.

Position:   Oracle DBA Consultant

Location:  Winston-Salem, NC

Duration:  6 Months with possibility of Extension

Rate:Best $/Hr All Inclusive

Start Date:ASAP

Positions:  One

 

 

Qualifications

Basic Function: Production DBA Support on RDBMS versions, 8i,9i,10g,11g 
Product/Technical Tools Expertise:

Oracle 8i,9i,10g,11g

Oracle RDBMS & features e.g. Partitioning Performance Tuning Tools like TKPROF, 
STATSPACK Required Technical Skills:

Minimum of 6 years Production Support experience on RDBMS versions, 
8i,9i,10g,11g 

Ability to write and troubleshoot using shell scripts Job monitoring experience 
using tools like Autosys or other tools Good Backup and Recovery skills 

 

Desired Technical Skills:

Exposure to other RDBMS systems such as SQL Server Research and evaluate tools 
and product features
