· 5+ years of experience analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale,
distributed production systems

· 5+ years of experience with mission critical production
ecosystems

· 5+ years of demonstrated expertise specifying, design and
implementing system health, performance monitoring and infrastructure
management tools

· 3+ years of demonstrated experience with capacity management,
event management, service level management, incident management, release
management, change management and/or root cause analysis practices and
supported tooling

· 3+ years of demonstrated experience with enterprise monitoring
systems and SIEM tools (e.g., Nagios, Graphite, Cacti, openNMS, Observium,
splunk, McAfee, LogRhythm)

· High proficiency in Linux operating systems concepts, memory
management, TCP/IP networking, file systems, RAID, NAS, SAN, process

· Linux expert - 5+ years of strong hands-on experience in managing
and supporting Linux server infrastructure in at least two of these OS
types (RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu, Suse).

· Proficient in security & cyber security for IoT

· Fluent in security & encryption terminology

· Problem solving and troubleshooting of complex issues

· Performance tuning for infrastructure and API

· RHCE or equivalent preferred

· knowledge of Kernel tuning and debugging

· Experience in any of DevOps tool Chef, puppet, salt, Ansible

Urgent Contract Requirement - Unix/Linux System Engineer - San Francisco, CA - (F2F interview must)

*Location: San Francisco, CA*

 *Knowledge and Skills:*

- Strong verbal and written communication skills are critical.

- The ability to interface with and help direct multiple teams when
troubleshooting issues is essential.

- Red Hat Linux running in a 24x7 environment; nfs, shell scripting,
performance tuning, patch management

- Must have working knowledge of network (LAN/WAN) technologies and UNIX
system management tools

- Strong scripting skills in one of the following; shell scripting, ant,
maven,etc.

- Apache Tomcat 7.x webserver in a clustered environment

- Knowledge of UNIX server hardware components

- Experience in supporting systems running Oracle Database a plus.

- Adept at researching technology solutions with all available resources

- Generate innovative approaches and solutions to recurring tasks or
problems.

- Proven analytical and trouble shooting skills

- Ability to determine and assign tasks to others to achieve project goals

- Utilize change and incident management systems to achieve highly
available enterprise systems

- Very strong documentation and communication skills

- Client-facing experience

- Previous experience working with Remedy based ticketing systems a plus

- Experience working with version control tools such as Subversion is a plus



*Previous Experience*

- Preferable 5+ years of Operating System experience supporting
sophisticated mission critical environments

- Demonstrated project guidance with delegation experience

- Preferable 3+ years of direct customer service experience

Job Classification:  Apps Systems Engineer 

 

Position Description:

 

 Experience Level: 4 year degree and 5+ years experience or equivalent
combination of education and experience.  

 

Candidate will provide Production/Platform support for EDGE application and
Sales Call Center.  Candidate will need strong documentation, coordination,
and project management skills.  Must be able to work independently & have
the ability to switch seamlessly between projects/initiatives.

 

Must be able to troubleshoot & identify technical solutions for
implementation and ongoing production support of application.  Duties may
include: using multiple online systems to review, prioritize, and distribute
incoming trouble tickets and notifications.   Notifying team and contacting
appropriate resources as needed of issue or adjustments which may be needed
to meet deadlines and goals. Develops new documentation, participates in the
development of department technical procedures.

 

24/7 availability may be required.

 

Duties are varied and may include one or more of the following:

 

  Develop and support web service programs (client and provider
programs) using J2EE tools, and possibly .net tools 

  Develop SQL (DDL, stored procedures, etc).

  Develop programs for data imports using Java, SQL Loader, etc 

  Develop file processing programs

  Create scheduled batch jobs and appropriate scripts (with alerting)  

  Support complex technical issues and initiatives related to
large-scale applications, systems & databases

  Create and utilize diagnostic simulation to analyze performance trends
and/or troubleshoot, restore service or data to systems

  Identify gaps in current technology process and recommend changes to
assure SLAs can be supported

  Perform code migration from development to production environment,
includes upgrades, installations and/or system configuration

  Create new and update existing documentation and procedures and
provide related training

  Troubleshoot network, hardware and software issues. Coordinate
resolution with users, vendors and internal service groups 

  Assess changes for potential risk to production systems and assures
quality, security and compliance requirements are met for supported areas

  Assists in updating, creating and testing the business continuity plan


  May coordinate project resources and provide guidance to less
experienced analysts

 

Required skills:

Unix and/or Linux, SQL Scripting, AIX/HP/Sun/Solaris Would like to see:

ANT scripting knowledge, MySQL, Windows Server, MQ, Websphere
