Plans, analyzes, designs, implements, maintains, and controls the
organization's databases. Consults with and provides guidance to database
users and client groups, often recommending tactical and strategic
solutions. Performs moderately complex server-class database activities
across various platforms and environments including one or more of the
following: business requirement identification and analysis; conceptual,
logical, and/or physical database design; data modeling and/or mapping;
moderate to complex programming and coding to automate and/or support the
database environment; performance monitoring and tuning; analyzing database
metrics and assisting with capacity planning; planning, testing,
configuration and execution of installations, upgrades and migrations; and
implementing security controls. Leads, mentors and/or provides guidance to
less experienced database analysts, where applicable, including guidance
for troubleshooting escalated issues. May participate in the development of
data/ database architectures and management policies, procedures and
standards; May lead moderately complex projects

*Minimum Qualifications *
4 - 5+ years database design and administration experience.
Strong verbal and written communication skill and basic technical project
management experience. Customer service skills are critical.
Knowledgeable in SQL performance tuning, administration (backup/recovery,
high availability), installation/upgrades, maintenance (production
support), and monitoring.
Good business sense with fundamental understanding of financials,
accounting analysis, and statistical modeling.
Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, or
Operations Research or equivalent experience.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

Senior DBA with 10+ year’s experience as SQL database administrator.
Production support experience maintaining highly available databases.

Oracle exposure is required to be able to interface between oracle and SQL
platform changes and relate them to existing SQL application which may be
impacted.

Must have experience with SQL 2008 and 2012.
The DBA contractor should also be skilled in all DBA-related tasks such as
DB monitoring, alerts, backups  restores, DB refreshes/copies, scripting,
performance monitoring and troubleshooting.
Very importantly, the contractor must be proficient with SQL Server
clusters and High Availability solutions.  Knowledge and expereince with
always on and availability group functionality is required.
The qualified contractor should be able to work independently within a
team, receiving general direction with periodic work product reviews.
Ability to operate in a fast-paced project environment and be flexible in

Improve all internal processes and tools to keep database safe, secure and
performing
Evaluate changes to the databases schemas and code and apply them to the
production environment
Support the other teams (operation and development) to improve overall
company's efficiency by providing technical directives, best practices and
suggestions to improve quality and performances of DB schemas and SQL code.
Capable of determining the level of criticality of issues affecting a
database and the best time/path to resolution within the responsibility and
established procedures
Install, administer, and maintain multiple SQL server databases in
clustered and non-clustered environments and in all product lifecycles
Design and implement backup and restore strategies and processes involving
complete database backup/restore, transaction log backup/restore
Design and implement SQL replication across multiple nodes
Assist development, operation, and management teams with disaster recovery
strategies and system architecture design
Perform index optimization and database performance tuning.
Work with development teams to resolve any database performance issues
Proactively automate checks and balances in database maintenance routines
Provide Level 1 and 2 on-call support after business hours and weekends
Performs planned tasks on weekends
Escalate and handles technical issues to Microsoft
Provide on-going capacity analysis and planning to determine future
projections of hardware requirement and/or configuration changes
Perform reviews of schema and code changes as part of the SDLC and
implements the changes to the production servers according to company
policies
Assist the Security team to keep the access to databases safe and secure
and to provide information to the audit team.
Collects/monitor/analyze data to provide feedbacks for capacity planning
Assist management to make proper decisions by providing timely, accurate
and undestandable information
Approve SQL code
Approve Schema changes
Emergency/Critical tasks when management not available
Architectural design
5-6+ years’ experience in database management
5-6+ years hands-on experience in complex SQL server ( at least 2 years
with 2005) environments (cluster, multiple instances) including
administration and development of database solutions
