*Description***
The Server Administrator will work with Newmont IT and external resources as
a SME for regional server and storage infrastructure and ensure related
devices are maintained, supported, optimized, and reliable.
Duties include:
- Onsite in Elko Nevada *Monday-Thursday 6am-4:30pm* for approximately 8
weeks.
- Help manage the IT Server/Storage environments to ensure high
availability and performance.
- Act as tier 3 support for End User Computing.
- Participate in the implementation of procedures to ensure the server
environments are consistent with company standards, industry best practices
and regulatory requirements.
- Provides technical support and coordination to service providers in
relation to configuration management for server/storage/ hardware.
- Responsible for ensuring that regional infrastructure documentation is
accurate and maintained on a timely basis.
- Performs a support role for the regional infrastructure-related
projects, including definition of regional requirements.
- Tracks related IT issues, coordinates resolution and assists in driving
issues to closure.
- Escalates high severity issues and chronic problems to appropriate
service management personnel.
- Participation in various IT projects as needed.
- Adhere to Client's methodologies, policies, procedures and standards.
Maintain a consistent high quality of work across all responsibilities.
- Adhere to Client’s Regional Occupational Health and Safety policy and
procedures.
The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and
level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.
*Working Conditions*
- Office and field work as required.
- Position may require travel to regional sites.
- Position requires current Driver License.
*Experience*:
- 4-6 years of experience in Windows Server Platforms. VMware version 5,
SQL 2000 and 2005 experience helpful.
- Hands on working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems (Server
2003/2008), Active Directory, Domain Management, Storage technologies (EMC
preferred) and Microsoft ISA.
- General working knowledge of network concepts, TCP/IP, Desktop
Applications.
- Strong mix of business, functional, and technical skills.
- Proven ability to discuss server, storage and backup concepts and
strategies in simple, clear terms to help drive and influence decision
making of business and application owners.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with
vendors, subordinates, colleagues, clients and customers at all levels.
- Posse’s strong IT knowledge and understanding with deep skills in IT
operations, customer relationship management and outsourcing vendor
relationship management.
