Rudy,

I tried it again. I get the same result.

  mkstemp failed: Permission denied

for all files except for those in directories
which I created.

Sorry.

[Savannah-hackers] RE: Inability to upload files: permission denied

2003-11-04 Thread Page, Bill
Hello David and Mathieu;

I have just tried to add a file to a sub-directory
created by David and I get the same message as before
when I tried to upload. It says

  Warning: Remote denied X11 forwarding.
  building file list ... done.
  axiom_run.pkg/cvs_2003-10-27/README.txt
  axiom_run.pkg/cvs_2003-10-27/axiom-static-linux-i386-cvs-2003-10-27.tar.gz

axiom_run.pkg/cvs_2003-10-27/.axiom-static-linux=i386-cvs-2003-10-27.tar.gz.
aRTcv0 failed: Permission denied
  ...

I am sure that David said that when he created this
directory that he set

  chmod ug+w

and that is the same privileges that I have assigned
to the stuff I am trying to add to that directory, but
still does not like me...

What else can we do to straighten this out?

Regards,
Bill Page.

  It seems to work.

In fact, another project member has deleted the whole
 download/axiom/
directory so (1) it has been able to delete everything (the access
rights were correct) and (2) we are starting from a clean state. :)

Before doing the upload, I have chmod g+wX -R axiom so I
 hope access
  rights are now correct (drwxrwsr-x).

Should not the access rights fixed automatically on the
 Savannah side?
As long as project members have rights to upload file, he
 should be able
to upload or delete any file.

I agree, there should be always at least g+rw, I'll try to find a way
 to insure that.

Yes. It worked for axiom_cvs.pkg/cvs_2003-09-28/README.txt I uploaded
myself previously (I've just verified).

I would say that the access rights are set from the first uploader and
those access rights do not allow modification by other project members.
