Just a question: I see that there are non-free components in Ubuntu (in
particular restricted and multiverse categories, online services such as
launchpad).

What do you plan to do with these packages?

shall I rename the project from "Thamizubuntu Operating System" to "Muththi
GNU/Linux based on Kubuntu".

This will be Ubuntu based Tamil Derivative.

To begin with it will be KDE based since we are the official Translators of
KDE desktop environment.

Hi,

Can you tell us how you plan to use your Savannah account?

It looks like your work will all those projects independently, what will be
the place of Savannah?

Generally, we do not host GNU/Linux distributions, mainly because we do not
have the resources to check the license of all their packages. However, since
this is a translation effort, this should be good, as long as the translated
packages are released under a free license.

Can you provide us with more details?

Hi,
I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah.

At first, as mentioned in the registration pages, we do not host complete
distros,
distros isos, packages repositories, etc, for space and bandwidth reasons.
We may just offer support for organisational purpose and in-house developed
software (such as iso creation scripts).

How do you plan to use the Savannah services?



At second, I don't see the need to host the whole stuff here on Savannah. Why
don't you contribute directly to the different projects? Why do you need to
collect your whole data in *one* project?

Do you have got anything to show to us? Your source code or something like
that?
We would like to review it and make then our decicission.



But again, we are unable to host *big things* like whole operation systems.

Free Tamil GNU/ Linux Operating System

The project aims at release of an exclusive Free Operating System in Tamil
Language for the benefit of Tamil Speaking Nationals in India.

The Project would be based on Ubuntu GNU/ Linux Operating System. We form the
Ubuntu Tamil Team (www.ubuntu-tam.org) and has been contributing to
translation of KDE (http://l10n.kde.org/team-infos.php?teamcode=ta) and GNOME
desktop environments (http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gtp/teams.html) to
Tamil Language. 

To get all these things customized to suite the requirements of Tamil people
by the Tamil People we are launching this Project.

The deadline for the first release has been set to 14 April 2008, the new
year date as per Tamil Calendar. The release would be code named as
"Sarvathari" which is the Year's name.
