RE: SL73 GeoIP in named issue

2016-12-15 Thread Bill Maidment
Yeah I found that and set it all up and still it "vomits" the messages preceded
by
using "/usr/share/GeoIP" as GeoIP directory
However the geoiplookup command works from the command line, so I reckon named
startup has a bug.

Is there a way of switching this off? Or should there be a pile of DBs with the
RPM ?

It is annoying that it vomits out those messages. AFAICT, there is no
option to disable it. The named.conf option to specify the directory
containing the geoip DBs is:
 geoip-directory

There is a thread about it in the bind-users mailing list:
  https://lists.isc.org/pipermail/bind-users/2015-November/thread.html#95971

Presumably, if you want to use GeoIP you need to install the GeoIP and
GeoIP-update packages, and enable the cron job to update the database.

cheers, etc.

At least in SL6, we seem to have got Firefox 45.6.0 ESR
- which is even better.
