To my knowledge and experience, such mails are only sent to users who signed
up for a Red Hat portal account and/or bought a Red Hat subscription and did
not uncheck/unsubscribe from such mails. I would be really surprised if Red
Hat has spent time harvesting e-mail addresses from the SL community's mailing
lists.

RedHat spamming???

2019-09-04 Thread Bill Maidment

Hi
After applying today's SL7.7 updates I have now received a pile of
emails from RedHat, see following example.

What has happened?

The following Red Hat Bug Fix Advisory has been published which may
affect

subscriptions which you have purchased.

RHBA-2019:2640 Red Hat Enterprise Linux Atomic 7.7.1 openscap Container
Image Update

Summary:

An updated Red Hat Enterprise Linux Atomic openscap container image is
now

available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Extras.

The Red Hat Enterprise Linux Atomic openscap container image contains
the
OpenSCAP-daemon, a service that performs SCAP scans of bare-metal
machines,

virtual machines and containers. Running the openscap container enables
container vulnerability scanning with the "atomic scan" command.

All users who require the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Atomic openscap
container are advised to update this container image.
