I really have to thank you very much as it works with this module. I am surprised as in SL5 the "original" module was working pretty well. About icewm taking 60% CPU it was because the mailhost where my "MailBoxPath" was referring ha just changed ! So it is OK now. I still have to solve the xmodmap and xset problem (as a workaround I run a cron to do it every hour). Thanks again for your help. -- Best regards, Robert FRANCHISSEUR Apollo_gist :-)___ | Robert FRANCHISSEUR Phone : +33 (0)950 635 636 | | 30 rue René Hamon Phone : +33 (0)1 46 78 37 29 | | F-94800 VILLEJUIFe-mail : Robert at Franchisseur . fr | --- pgp83kb9PgSRo.pgp Description: PGP signature

Is there any particular reason you're not leapfrogging to SL 7, which is likelier to have better support for audio chipsets? even after modprobe pcspkr alsamixer (unmute beep) I have no beep sound. But note that it works on a Dell Vostro 1510 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) and it also works on a Dell precision 390 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation NM10/ICH7 Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01) Have you tried installing kmod-alsa from ELrepo? I found this got sound working on SL5 for several of my newer motherboards. I suspect the same for SL6. I did, however leapfrog from 5 to 7. There is a bit of a learning curve (systemd, etc), but it isn't really that horrible once you spend a few days with it.

SL6 % SL5 issues
Hello, upgrading from SL5 to SL6 I have several problems but mainly: 1) On a Dell Latitude E6500 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) even after modprobe pcspkr alsamixer (unmute beep) I have no beep sound. But note that it works on a Dell Vostro 1510 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) and it also works on a Dell precision 390 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation NM10/ICH7 Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01) 2) I also had to change my xmodmap and my xset but there is something which seems to reset them after some time of inactivity. 3) icewm takes more than 60 % CPU while it was ~ 0 under SL5 ! Thanks for your help. -- Best regards, Robert FRANCHISSEUR Apollo_gist :-)___ | Robert FRANCHISSEUR Phone : +33 (0)950 635 636 | | 30 rue René Hamon Phone : +33 (0)1 46 78 37 29 | | F-94800 VILLEJUIFe-mail : Robert at Franchisseur . fr | --- pgpDjmRqkl1gu.pgp Description: PGP signature
