Packages openmpi in SL5.3 x86_64
Hello, I noticed that the package openmpi (+related) have a lower version in security updates than in the reference for SL5.3 x86_64 : ftp://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/53/x86_64/SL/ = openmpi-1.2.7-6.el5.i386.rpm ftp://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/53/x86_64/updates/security/ = openmpi-1.2.3-4.el5.x86_64.rpm Is this normal ? Out of date skew is not necessarily expected, but unsurprising, if you stay at an old release. Security updates that were published for SL 5.1 or SL 5.2 could be in the security updates channel, . Why aren't you updated to SL 5.8, which is being actively maintained and has openmpi-1.4.4 ?

Thanks Nico, yes I know I should run latest SL5 versions. At some point all these machines will be reinstalled in SL6 but I was just curious.
