Re: movie editor?
I like openshot if i'm stuck doing it on the centos box. i usually use adobe on the win box. if you're not doing any kind of advanced effects and just doing chopping/pasting and the like it ought to work fine. Re: how do I run this java program?
Test something from Apple without having to sink a couple hundred bucks into it? We're talking about the same Apple, right? Re: Requiered steps to configure samba
And when it doesn't work, http://troy.jdmz.net/samba/fw/index.html make sure to punch some holes in IPTables so it can talk out. Re: favorite fax program?
If you want it stable, well-documented, and maintained Hylafax is probably a good route to go for an all-in-one solution. http://www.hylafax.org/content/Main_Page
Re: Linux on USB
Without knowing all the specifics i'd say go round up a copy of XBOOT off pendrivelinux.com, feed it the SLC6 disk .iso, and hit 'GO' on it. there's about 100 different utilities that'll make a bootable USB device out of an .ISO for you.
Re: 20 Firefox processes
bwahahahahaahahahahah. i have a cat. is it FF multithreading in a new process for each window or plugin to compartmentalize against crashes or exploits in any one particular window like Chrome?
Re: Need monospace font for zenity
i'd probably round up any one of 100 repacked Windows Fonts (msttcorefonts) .RPMs, force it to courier new, and forget about it. there's scads of how-tos running around for Fedora and Red Hat based systems.
Re: Move a SL6 server from md software raid 5 to hardware raid 5
There is something to be said for minimizing downtime, but every time i've tried getting tricky with something like that something else goes horribly wrong. i believe IPIO was mentioned and Murphy probably has something else to say about it, too.
Re: Move a SL6 server from md software raid 5 to hardware raid 5
Felip. always always always: back up the array. create the new array. move the old array to the new array. destroy the old array.
Re: VLC error on webm
A newer build of FFMPeG might do it if you set VLC to use an external codec or use a different frontend for it.
Re: unable to cut a DVD from iso
I usually use only Sony burn decks. Everything Sony i've used from CDROM to BluRay is blissfully ignorant of whatever you run with it for an OS and burn software generally with no firmware upgrades. They just work without complaint. The Sony DRU series internal burn decks especially. 0 problems, they last forever. Samsung would be a 2nd bet. Plextors i've had nothing but problems with after campus IT ordered several hundred HP machines on their last contract and they were found to all need firmware updates.
Re: webserver
What dennis said about checking DNS zones. Also make sure you have your vhosts set up correctly in your httpd.conf file to have the webserver listen on your new domain, and make sure you have all allowed flag set on it unless you're restricting access by subnets/domains.
Re: CD audio sound
Every time it does that to me it's automatically selected Digital playback on teh SPDIF line. you might want to dig around in your settings and see if it it's set for the Digital line. I've had several linuxes do this to me, but i dont remember if SCILIN is one of them.
