Does SL5.2 run on the Intel I7 processors? Any magic involved?

In tests we found that the sl52 installer kernel happy enough on i7
desktop machines - but there are i7 specific improvements listed in the
changelogs of the kernels for sl53 (those are available as security
updates for sl52 anyway)...

We had more fun the the networking chipsets that happened to be on the
boards that the maker used and we continue to have cooling problems
because the maker we bought from seemed to have under-estimated the amount
heat that would be produced - maybe they didn't expect people to be
running code flat-out on them...

If it's any help, I know that both CentOS 5.2 & 5.3 run on the i7.

Ken,

We had trouble running SL 5.2 with Intel I7 processor and the Asus
PT6 MB (x58 Intel chipset).

We had no troubles using SL 5.3 though.

I have logged into one beta machine where someone had it working.
I didn't do the install myself so not sure if any magic was required.
