I'd like to take the opportunity to thank Chris for noticing the error and bringing it to our attention. The feedback from the SL community is one of the things I love about this project! Basically, it is a documentation issue. The rpm does what is expected to /etc/sysconfig/init, the doc just describes it wrongly. I'll get it fixed in the next wave of release notes. I had to do an upgrade, not an update to get the new version. yum --releasever=6x upgrade

Your update command was wrong. Fix 63 to 6.3. Therefore, it should be: yum --releasever=6.3 update#there is a dot(.) between the 6 and 3.
