Yum hangs

2010-12-25 Thread Rachid Ayad
Dear All, Even if I am using redhat enterprise 5.5 but the problem I will
talk about should be common to all linux. My yum hangs all the time and I
followed some advises I found online but still does not work. all internet
transactions in our university goes through a proxy and I added it in
/etc/yum.conf and it seems it accepted it and also I entered a password.
The proxy works from the browser but yum stil hanging. So any one had an
experience with this problem?

  Thank you, rachid ayad

Section #11, Using Yum with a Proxy Server, of the CentOS wiki page
[1] is the technique used by the CentOS Community. It should prove
satisfactory for you.

Dear Alan, From the first look I already did all what is mentioned in the
wiki page but did not work. The wiki information is also found online in
others locations. I will try again probably I forgot something. I am busy
right now but will let you know after I try it again.

  Thank you, rachid.
