repoview change for errata area's

2010-01-20 Thread Troy Dawson

Hello,
We have updated the server that pushes out the security errata and
builds the repoview area's.

Along with the server update, we have updated createrepo and repoview.

createrepo is now being run with the -d option which "generates sqlite
databases for use with yum."

I know that several people had asked for this.

We have also updated repoview to version 0.6.4. This has a different
template. It also puts the corresponding repoview web areas in a
different place. Instead of putting the web pages in /repodata
they are now in /repoview

For instance
http://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/5x/i386/updates/security/repoview/
http://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/4x/i386/errata/SL/RPMS/repoview/
http://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/309/i386/errata/SL/RPMS/repoview/

I haven't remove the old repoview area's, that are in the repodata
directory, but I plan on doing that in a couple weeks. Probably just
replacing their main index.html web page with a redirecting web page.

Thanks
Troy Dawson

rpmforge have a package of repoview 0.5.2 but I can't find a
package of 0.6.4 or an SL package of repoview. Should those
of use building local repos be using it ?

I got it from the repoview site and built it myself. I had been having
problems with 0.5.2 (I forget the error, I could dig it up if you want)
and thought I would try the latest version. This got rid of the error,
after I install python-hashlib.

If people want to use it, I could put it up into contrib or testing. I
like it. I've found I like the templates better than are in 0.5.2.

Why not just use the one that's already in EPEL?

Hmmm ... that's strange. That was the first place I looked. And now
that I look again, they have the new one. I must have looked in the
wrong place or something.

Yes, use the one from EPEL.
