Studio and network execs declined comment -- but it's believed that the final decision will be made in the next day or two. Move is not a huge surprise, but still reps the end of an era for Fox. 24 helped usher in Fox's ratings surge in the 2000s, as the franchise -- along with American Idol and House, among other series -- led the network to the No. 1 spot in the adults 18-49 demo. But the cost of producing 24 has continued to increase, while ratings have dipped. A one-time critical darling, 24 has also received its share of knocks from critics this season. The studio is said to be considering shopping 24 to other nets -- but given the thriller's age and pricetag, it's believed interest from other outlets will be limited. Yet even as the bell tolls for 24 in primetime, the franchise is far from dead. Sutherland and the 24 team have been keen on adapting the show as a feature film, and have made major strides in recent months toward making that long-term goal a reality. Twentieth Century Fox's film side recently hired scribe Billy Ray (State of Play, Flightplan) to pen the script for the feature version (Daily Variety, Feb. 8.) Ray's pitch, which takes Jack Bauer to Europe, was a hit with Fox execs and producers of the high-concept television series. Script is said to have come through 24 star Sutherland, who's also an exec producer on the series. Such a move into the features world was considered impossible while production continued on the TV series -- given that 24 takes much of the year to produce, with its feature-like shooting schedule. But with the show expected to end its run, the ability to focus on a movie could now finally be in sight. 24 was created by Robert Cochran and Joel Surnow, while exec producer Howard Gordon runs the show through his Real Time Prods. banner. Brian Grazer's Imagine Entertainment produces the show along with 20th Century Fox TV. Sutherland has starred throughout all eight seasons as Jack Bauer, a federal agent and member of the Los Angeles Counter Terrorist Unit (and who has saved the world several times over). 24 made noise for its real time format, in which all 24 episodes take place as consecutive hours in the same day. Although it was developed before the attacks of 9/11, the show, which bowed Nov. 6, 2001, in many ways began to mirror the changed world, given real-life fears over terrorism and debates over torture methods. Skein's depiction of an African American president was seen as a ground-breaking precursor to the 2008 election of Barack Obama. The show has won the Emmy and the Golden Globe awards for drama, while Sutherland has scored both an Emmy and a Globe for actor. 24 has also received Emmy Awards for writing and directing; last year, Cherry Jones won an Emmy for supporting actress in a drama. This season's edition of 24, which takes place in New York, stars Sutherland, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Jones, Anil Kapoor, Annie Wersching, Katee Sackhoff, Mykelti Williamson, Freddie Prinze Jr.,

By WENN.COM Christopher Nolan has fuelled speculation the next Batman movie will be his last by confirming the new film will be a conclusion to the Caped Crusader's story. The moviemaker revived the Batman franchise with Christian Bale taking the lead role in Batman Begins in 2005 and returned for 2008's The Dark Knight. He is now preparing to take charge of his third movie in the series which will complete his trilogy. And although Nolan admits his screenwriter brother, Jonathan Nolan, is struggling to write the script, he's looking forward to concluding the movie series. He tells the Los Angeles Times, (Jonathan is) now doing the hard work. My brother is writing a script for me and we'll wait to see how it turns out... He's struggling to put it together into the epic story that you want it to be. Without getting into specifics, the key thing that makes the third film a great possibility for us is that we want to finish our story. And in viewing it as the finishing of a story rather than infinitely blowing up the balloon and expanding the story. We have a great ensemble, that's one of the attractions of doing another film, since we've been having a great time for years. I'm very excited about the end of the film, the conclusion, and what we've done with the characters. My brother has come up with some pretty exciting stuff. Unlike the comics, these things don't go on forever in film and viewing it as a story with an end is useful. Viewing it as an ending, that sets you very much on the right track about the appropriate conclusion and the essence of what tale we're telling. And it harkens back to that priority of trying to find the reality in these fantastic stories. That's what we do. 33A.gif

I saw the Frontline show on this. It was very good. There are a few others as well. I think that this movie puts a face to the theorists more than covers their theories. For example, Alex Jones comes off more of a wannabe than someone truly at odds with an invisible force of power. There was something that may be there but was it or was it merely the suggestion that something was there? It was like watching the waters for the Loch Ness monster. Was that a branch, or was that its head? The puffs of smoke several floors under where the planes struck looks odd to me as well. It would be physically impossible for it to fall almost straight down unless it was designed to fall that way or it was sabotaged to fall that way. Although it was developed before the attacks of 9/11,

They had Colecovision on sale for a while from different resellers a couple of years back when Atari was doing their 14th comeback. There is still a retro movement going on. A couple of months ago there was a new music recording program that mimics 8bit sound chips like the Colecovision, Commodore 64 and others. So it is bound to make another comeback soon. There have also been a couple of albums using the old videogame styled sounds. On Sat, Mar 13, 2010 at 6:03 PM, Gerald Haynes efhay...@yahoo.com wrote: Wish I could get my hands on a Colecovision. Re: [scifinoir2] The Atari Flashback 2!
Ditto! I have my Sega Genesis and my Super Nintendo. When I play games I tend to go to them more than my PS2. I'm a sucker for old-fashioned side scrolling fighting and space games. So for my Genesis I pull out gems like Gunstar Heroes (by a company called Treasure that did another side scroller I love, the space game Thunderforce III). I thrill to a side scrolling fighting series called Streets of Rage (Bare Knuckle in Japan). I *love* a really crude but fun racing series called Road Rash, where one drives a motorcycle in a race in several cities around the world. In the game you get to punch, kick, club, and tase your opponents. Game is full of pixelation and crude sounds, but it's so much fun. And can't forget the original Sonic the Hedgehog! On the SNES, it's Contra III, a great vertical scrolling space game named Space Megaforce, a very simplistic but really fun RPG called Actraiser (childishly simply RPG, but amazing orchestral music), Metroid. And Super Tetris? Man, I can sit for hours getting lost in that game. Several friends of mine keep on me to buy a PS3, but I just haven't found the justification yet. - Original Message - From: Gerald Haynes efhay...@yahoo.com To: scifinoir2@yahoogroups.com Sent: Saturday, March 13, 2010 9:03:04 PM GMT -05:00 US/Canada Eastern Subject: Re: [scifinoir2] The Atari Flashback 2!
