[scifinoir2] Re: Fw: Thrillist ATL: Cancel Your Netflix Subscription

2010-09-02 Thread B Smith
When I was a kid I loved Monster From a Prehistoric Planet aka Gappa, the
Triphibian Monster. It was basically a Japanese retelling of Gorgo turned up to
11. There were two monster parents instead of one, they were triphibians
because they could fly as well as live in water and on land. They also had a
breath weapon.

It was Nikkatsu Studio's only attempt at trying to knock Toho of the top of
kaiju eiga mountain. it failed miserably. Shortly after that the studio became
known for softcore porn.

2010-09-02 Thread Mr. Worf
I wouldn't call Nikkatsu's work softcore porn. It is a little more artistic
than that in some cases. Plus they had their best directors making the films
from the 60s-70s. They also produced 4x's as much work. (they also produced
movies like The Grudge and Machine Girl)
